Yeah, the 1995-2005 MLB average BABIP for hitter-seasons with more than 400 PA is .308 with a standard deviation of 0.030, so OOTP's standard deviation of 0.037 doesn't look too far off, despite that .461 outlier. Player BABIP talent creation could stand to be tweaked slightly perhaps.

I hate to say this, but I have never used BABIP in any of my leagues as a statistic that I should be paying attention to. Should this change, now that I prepare for '07?

With Markus presenting Contact to you, you can still use your normal ways of looking at the game. But those who pay attention to such things as BABIP and K-rates and whatnot will be a little happier than they once were.
