As bad as OOTP2006 was - and, damn, it was bad - so many testers whose judgment I respect have written to tell me or posted publicly that OOTP2007 is going to be very worthwhile that I preordered a copy and am looking forward to playing it.

As to where I am, I lurk here once in a while, but mainly I'm busy with real life and I pretty much got out of the habit of posting on forums (although I am actively part of an email group, as those of you who are also in it know). I travel a lot, the new house is a never-ending source of projects, I have a dog who expects a very long walk every day and talks to me if he doesn't get one, I have a new motorcycle, and in the past year my wife somehow managed to insert us into high society when I wasn't looking and now I spend way too much time at events, receptions, dinner parties, and wine and cheese parties with the rich-but-not-so-famous (in fact, I'm off to one in a few minutes).

By the way, I do have an alias, but there aren't any W's in its name. It is nice of some of you to miss me so very, very much.

You need to get back in the habit....your posts were always good.

I did not preorder.

Two main reasons were:

1. I missed the 20% off sale. I was taking a break from the boards (as I usually do during the winter) and for some reason I dont receive emails from OOTP even though I am signed up. Since so many others received it no problem, I am sure it is a hang up with my email, but I dont know how to fix it. There is nothing in my spam folder. I was thinking that maybe I needed to add OOTP to my address book, but since I have never received an email from them, I dont know the address. My PM to Marc went unanswered, but that is understandable, I am sure he is busy this time of year.

2. I was rather disappointed with last years version. It had all of the new features that I wanted, but the loss of features from V6 (heck V5 and V4) frustrated me. No matter what I did, I was unable to get the game to perform the way I wanted to. A multileague system with internationals, where good international players would go to the majors and decent to poor major leaguers would go to the international league. The problem was that no matter what settings I used, the career leaderboards were always way off and the international league would spend major bucks to sign over the top major league talent, even if it took up its entire salary cap. I ended up spending just about all of my time with 2006 doing testing for the Dream Team and tech support forums.

So this year I have decided that I will wait. Give the demo a try, check out the messages on the board, and decide if the game is good to go this year, or if I need to hold out a year.

I have been here a while, and I have alot of trust for Markus. The game was a two year rewrite and I get that. I loved the international leagues and acutally like the interface. The game just felt overall incomplete to me. When it was annouced that patch 1.03 would be the last, I was really disappointed. I understand the need to make money, but that game should not have come out in the condition that it was in, and by releasing it in that condition, it used up some of the trust I had for this game and this company.

I am sure that by April I will have a copy and hopefully I will be enjoying it and discussing it on these boards. I just cannot hand out my money blind again.
