Any word on the Manual?

Just curious when the manual will be released for the game (last year it came out a bit before the game was released)? For those on the fence, looking at the various features might help decide to pre-order, while those that have already pre-ordered will have something to read while waiting for the game to release...

Mr. Battisti is already working on it, so I expect it to be ready shortly before the game is released

Battists does have something up his sleeve cooler than last year's manual.

BEFORE the game is released?

Yeah, it's a work in progress. It's going to be very similar to last year's, or so it seems.

I'm sure there will be at least a few on it. Might even be some in it as well.

The 2006 manual was incredibly beneficial for someone like me who was playing OOTP for the first time. It really helped me get a good grasp and understanding of the game. I'm looking forward to this year's version.

Take a well-deserved bow, Steve. You definitely earned it. (we need an applause emoticon)

Last year's manual wasn't just invaluable to new players like Chukkie & 1998 Yanks, but to people like me who had played previous versions and would have been at a complete loss concerning the new-fangled OOTP 2006 without it.

Yeah, the job Steve did on the manual was just awesome. Best manual of any sports sim ever IMO

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

Do you have a beta team for the manual too.

Why, in fact, yes they do.

Clutch post, but the discussion on the manual should be automatic. Stick to the topic and stop shifting.

I'm getting geared up for this game, and am amazed by Markus' engineuity.

I read somewhere when I press f1 there will be some help. Will this be the full manual with all 3XX pages in it? When I use this will there be a search function?

I only wonder because I always lose the manual and can't find it. lol

This is my own personal preference. The manual have as many pictures as possible. Part of the reason I say this is because when I was new to this the pictures really helped me know I was in the right place. And as we know this is not the easiest game to get a handle on when we first get started.

And from looking at some of the screenshots some of the more important pages like the managers page does have some changes to it.

Almost all of the content of the manual/game guide will also be in the F1 help system. Some things won't, like for example installation and licensing instructions, which wouldn't make much sense to be IN the game.

Unfortunately, there won't be an in-game help search mechanism (this time ), but there will be an index, and of course all of the articles will use hyperlinks where necessary to link to related subjects. Additionally, the in-game help will be context-sensitive, so that if you hit F1 on the Lineups page, you will get help on the lineups.

Lots of pics, I promise.

I totally agree with all that's been said here. I thought the 2006 manual was outstanding and I'm someone who usually complains about things like that because I'm Type A, extremely literal, and picky!

I read the entire manual before 2006 came out and I'll probably do the same with 2007. My only hope/wish is that there is a long and detailed section on PCM's and MLE's!
