Player editor question

Will we be able to enter the player stats only and it automatically gives us the player rating?

This way its a lot easier to try to figure out what rating to give the players for each category.

will the editor work the way it does now... you enter a rating value and the game shows you projected stat output?!? That seems rather straight forward and a simple way to do edit players.

Except the ratings are based on teams of the 2000's. I tried creating the 1969 season by putting ratings in until the stats were right, yet when I played the season the league stats, especially batting avg., were way too low, BA in the low .230's, with a couple teams ending off with BA in the .190's, the Angels for one.

Just curious, why would you do it this way instead of using a historical database? Seems like an awful lot of work, and if you use Lahman, the numbers OOTP comes up with are scary accurate...

Mainly because I use seperate stats for players who played on more than 1 team, I don't use the combined stats. I was adjusting a season I had imported and the stats that were showing in the edit area were not correct for any player, even if imported from a database, the stats are not right. I've tried importing from a database as well, so out of curiosity, I adjusted everyone's rating to show their actual stats, and it was a bad decision.

All I know now is the editor is a good thing for teams of the 2000's, but not for any other decade.

But for us non rosters makers it can be a lot easier.

Just imagine getting the baseball almanac with players stats and just entering the stats like avg, rbi, steals, era, HR, Fielding pct, etc into the player editor to come up with the correct ootp ratings.

Just seems a lot easier.

It does still work that way.

I created the entire 1957 PCL league the way the editor works now and it wasn't that bad. Once you get a feel for what values create what stats, it's a piece of cake.

Yea, it is by no means a major hastle to do it currently. I have a spreadsheet that converts the stats to ratings and then I enter those...but that is still a step that could be wiped out if all you had to do was enter the stats.

Hey, BigCity, why don't you make a quickstart of the '57 PCL? I'd love to play it.

Why it would be much better then the one in the game because the one in the game gives me problems like changes team I'm editing or is to slow or if I hit the wrong butter like Sim when I'm not ready yet?
