Importing history and the HOF

A question that came to me while I was thinking of importing history in a historical game: If I import the back history of a league, will the right players be inducted into the Hall of Fame? In other words, if I import starting in 1996, will I be able to look in the HOF and see Ruth, Aaron, Seaver, et al. there (but not Boggs, Gwynn, etc., of course).

If no, any chance that could happen?

If yes, it might be best to have the game induct any player whose last year was in a year prior to the import year, rather than go by the year the player was inducted. That way players in the 5 year waiting period will still get in, since the game itself decides on election immediately after retirement.

I wondered about this too. This "historical snapshot" option is right down my Alley ( Gene)

I'd hope HoF records would carry over, and retired players would have non-simmed time considered when being elected...

Yep! HOF'ers are added into history.

What about players who have been retired but yet to be elected at the start of the league (i.e. lets say I start a league in 2007, will players who retired in 2006 have a chance of being elected in 2012)? Does it consider their career stats?

Is the ability to view all retired players and manually add them to the HOF in 2007?

How are players who had time in multiple major leagues handled, as far as the HOF goes?

Dunno. I am building a league this second to try.

OK, here are some results...

Using the Import Complete History Function

I imported from Lahman 5.3 the 1941 season.

There are 16 members of the Hall of Fame. Pete Alexander to Cy Young.

There are 6040 retired players.

I located Rogers Hornsby in the retired players database, right clicked on him, and manually elected him to the HoF.

Can you overrise the computers decisions? Or just elect players?

So there's a Retired Players screen in the game? Along the same lines as the FA page or Draft Pool page?

Could never find this in 2006.

It was there in 2006. It was near the HoF screen, I believe. I don't have the game installed to check.

Retired players is one tab over from HoF. Very similar to FA page.

It's not in 2006, at least not anywhere I can find it.
