The fact that the two sets of data are not much different suggests that baseball players have aged along similar paths across the generations.

I've heard it said that most baseball players peak at about 27 and then go downhill, some qucker than others, from there.

Almost any group of ball players will peak at 27. Individuals can differ from that significantly.
