New OOTP Mod Website: Call for Submissions

Everyone -

I have just launched a new website, which I hope will serve as a central repository for all popular OOTP Mods. I'd like to thank Marc Duffy for granting me permission to use graphics from the OOTP 2007 website. Here's the link:

If you have any ballparks, facepacks, logopacks, etc. that you would like hosted on this site, just let me know, and I'll get it posted.

I currently have about 250 GB of monthly bandwidth dedicated to this site, and I hope it's enough, but we'll see. The only files that I may have to turn down are any that are really big (>50MB), as they really eat up the bandwidth, especially if they are popular. For example, I'm going to try and host Gambo's 450+ ballpark photos and DB file (which is about 80MB), but I may have to take it down if it knocks me out of commission. I'm just going to have to monitor traffic and make adjustments as necessary. I apologize in advance if I can't host all of the huge mod files out there, but I'll do my best!

Right now there is only one submission ready for download (my ballpark photo set), but I'm hoping that between now and the release of the game, the site will be full of useful files.

Feedback is welcomed, let me know what you think...

Hey PadresFan,

you're welcome to host my face pack but i must say it's going to be a pretty large file. I expect to have over 25k pics when it's finally done. the first version of this Year will be around 18k. I am not really sure about the actual size of the file yet as i haven't ever archived it in quite some time.

So let me know if you want another 30-40 mb file

Hmm... I'm not so sure we have to put the kibash on this file just yet. I'm hosting a 99MB face pack on my PureSim site (WrightWings Facepack 1870-2005, over 12,000 images) and it hasn't taken me down yet...

Let me know what you'd like to do. I mean, if this turns out to be the "definitive" facepack, then this may be the only one I need to host.

Does anyone know of any other great historical facepacks that I should host in addition to this one? I've always used WrightWings, so I'm not ure if something better has popped up lately.

I have added Gambo's huge historical file to mine since OOTP 07 has the full history included and the roster makers are taking advantage of it. So My set will be pretty definitive for historical and today's rosters

Yeah, I keep going back and forth on this one. On the one hand, the more images I put on each page, the more bandwidth I use up as people browse around, and the longer it takes each page to load. On the other hand, there's the problem you describe.

I went with the preview route on my PureSim site, and I was thinking of going with the straightforward/clean approach on this one. It's also a helluva lot easier to maintain this way. I'll keep the suggestion in mind though, I appreciate the feedback.

Just had an idea that might be a good middle ground. I'll add a new section to the main page with an image or two from the latest 5 or so submissions, but keep the actual sub-pages free of graphics. Sort of like the OOTP Website does with it's latest screenshots.
