... My God, why had this not crossed my mind? You don't even necessarily need to focus the universe around it... just make it a third feeder league. Age limits... HS - 15-18 Col - 18-22 BL - 30-35 Or heck, make it a foreign league. Imagine sending your scout to the Beer League, and having him bring back a 310-pounder who'll hit .205 with 32 HRs his rookie year, and retire two years later from old age. ![]() Oh, and this alone requires writing in a new injury... "Had kids, got old and lazy... joined the Beer League". Priceless. ![]()

Kinda like a flash-in-the-pan version of Rob Deer!

I know this has been asked, but I don't remember the answer. Does bulk or body mass affect, at all, any potentials or ratings? Will some bigger, heavier players possess more power?

Do player weights change over time? Or do we get the David Wells baseball card view of the world - he still officially weighs 225 lbs., just like he did at 21.

I don't think it changes over time. Here's my take on why:
When a real life player transforms his six-pack into a keg, you don't always see this in media releases. In fact, it's my experience that the only time you see a team report a change in a player's weight it's because a. it's a good thing they're trying to show off (like a youngster growing into his body or somebody adding 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason) or an instance where it's so obvious that Tony Gwynn doesn't weigh 180 pounds anymore that the official press guide would be the subject of derision in the middle of games ("Mickey Lolich looks for the sign. He is listed at 6'1" and 210 pounds. 210. Yeah, right. Maybe if he took one of his feet off the scale"). |

"Cecil Fielder acknowledges a weight of 261, leaving unanswered the question of what he might weigh if he put his other foot on the scale." - Bill James

This is why, in our 1977-8 Longball league, we refered to him as 'Fatboy' Lolich. Boog Powell was 'Slowdog'.

I know I've seen the weights players change in previous versions of OOTP. Pat O'Farrell put on ten pounds late in his career. Lou Gehrig, who is 35 in my universe, weighed 200 when he broke in and goes 215 now.
There was a guy in my Keystone League, Donald Peterson, who was 6'1", 225 in his early thirties. By the time he retired, he was up to 255. He was a left fielder, and I also remember his range diminishing to that of a stop sign. His nickname (game-generated) was "The Hulk." By his last year, I was thinking of him as "The Bulk."
