After being away from the boards for some time, it's good to see some of the old XBL gang still going strong. XBL was great because it was the forerunner to many of the features that are standard in online leagues today. A lot of the owners took that and formed their own leagues (Maelstrom and others) which built upon those ideas with quality ideas of their own. Too bad real life shortened that league because it'd be interesting to see where that league would be today.

Former XBL Marlin.

Good to see the FOBL Knights Templar have crawled out of their holes.

Also, having several GMs named Kirk is very big. At present I think the MBBA leads online leagues in GMs named Kirk.

Further, we've got several different iterations of Doogie Howser as custom amateur players. That's hard to beat.

If by holes you mean orifices and by their you mean overwrought menopausal grannies, then...ummm...maybe.

Just yesterday I was crawling out of my mom's basement, but thanks to Tom Vu and his "no money down" real estate program, now I have my very own hole.

Real funny guys, reeeeal funny. The fact of the matter is that the FOBL is a kids league, I think there's a stipulation that you have to be under 15 to apply. Sure there are 36 teams, but I believe each owner is allowed to run 6 teams each. Okay, that's all misinformation but it was still fun to type.

To be a bit more serious, the old XBL was probably the first OOTP league with very high standards, then a flood of high quality leagues followed shortly afterward, including the aforementioned FOBL. I'm not sure how many are still around from that era, but if they are they have to be considered among the best leagues in OOTP history since most online leagues don't last a calendar year. I have to also give props here to the Cooperstown Diamond Legends, which is still going since 2001 (49 simmed seasons so far). There are several other great leagues with a long history, hopefully some get posted here, I'd like to catch up on what old time leagues have survived the various versions of OOTP.

Time Warp Baseball was a truly great league. It's currently trying to be resurrected.

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

EDIT: Hmmm, battists' deletion of the previous post requires me to edit in order to preserve Simms' innocence. My reference was to an off-color comment posted by Draft Dodger.

UBL- United Baseball League

I think this league is very well run and has been going for years (I think since v4 or v5) The commish does a great job and runs a real legit honest league.
I really enjoyed playing in it, but stopped playing any online leagues a few years back. I think they can be a lot of fun – but don’t fit my lifestyle. I will go weeks without being able to spend any time on OOTP and then play for three straight days when my wife and kids are out of town. Not very conducive fro online leagues, but perfect for solo play.
