Suggestions on Trasfering League

I have a solo league that I've played out almost every game my team has played for 16+ years.

I bought 2006 and my plan was to play around with a new league until I finished my current season in 6.5 and then try transferring it to 2006.

That was the plan...in reality I never could get into the new leagues I tried in 2006 and never transfered my 6.5 league.

What will be the best way to make the transition? Any pitfalls I should be looking for? Any tips?

There are too many players that I want to see their careers finish and I can't throw away 16 (sim) years of playing, but I need to make the move.

My feeling is that 6.5 was the old highway, 2006 was the construction zone and 2007 is right where the construction ends!
