Importing Rookies from Future Years
Is there anyway to use Lahman and/or Ankit database to import rookies before their rookie year?
For example, let's say I start a league with Lahman database import using the 1984 season. It'll put 25 guys on the MLB roster and some players in the minor league system of each team. But I want to populate the minor leagues with actual players (who would make their MLB debut <5 years later). So essentially before I begin playing the 1984 season, I want to import rookies from 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1989. And use these players to populate the minor league teams for each franchise. Any ideas on how to do that or whether it can be done? I don't care what their current ratings are, so I don't see the need for minor league stats, I just want their potentials to be correct. I can use their rookie season as their current rating, it doesn't really matter to me. Then, when I finish the 1984 season, I want to import rookies from 1990. Ideally, I'd like to import those 1990 rookie players into a rookie draft. |

Other than editing the Lahman database yourself, I'm not sure. OOTP does not allow for you to specify when they come in other than the first year they appear in the lahman database.

Download my database which has players import when they made their pro debut and not their ML debut. I have a new version coming out for 07 which allows the use of the new features.
With my DB for example if you start in 1982 the Yankees will have young Don Mattingly and Steve Balboni ready to enter the majors with Fred McGriff in the minors. The idea is that you will have your major league team and often enough another 30-40 players at least in the minors. Somebody just posted that 1989 imports over 1900 players (over 60 per team) Alot of people on the board use and enjoy it and what your talking about is the exact reason I created it in the 1st place. BTW, the import seasons and teams I use are the real years and teams as accurately I can find and is pretty much dead on from 1965 on. Last edited by Gambo : 02-22-2007 at 07:27 PM. |

How do you deal with players from the old days who went from independent minors to the majors?

Gambo, your initial database worked great for me. Thanks so much, that was exactly what I was looking for!
I installed it last night just as a trial and ran a quick season and everything looked good. However when the season finished and I tried to import rookies it crashed on me and erased the ratings for all of the players. I may have missed something in your instructions and it was late so I wasn't paying too much attention, but I thought I didn't need to do anything with the yearly files. I'm trying this on 6.5 btw. |
