I just realized that this mode of play seems to be pretty popular. So, I added a new function to the league creation wizard (and game creation/setup screen), letting you specify which real life season your fictional league should mirror, making it easier to set such a league up.
If you select a year, the game will import adjusted financial settings, league strategy settings and player creation modifiers automatically on league creation. That results in a fictional league that plays like the real life year you selected ![]() PS: Steve will kill me because he'll have to update the manual once again, but I promise this is the last new feature before release ![]() |

That is awesome, Markus. I have a feeling I will be using that feature to get 80s style baseball out of my fictional leagues. Nice work!

I believe that this is the first public view of the league creation wizard. This is an excellent, and if I may say so, a much needed addition to the game. Previous league creation decisions weren't explained nearly as clearly and certainly didn't come with examples.
In contrast to last year's TRTR when I became more and more disenchanted as release neared, I believe that I may actually be getting excited about this years version.

You may start cursing the demo when it stops running because it is so engrossing, though. |

Another excellent creation. Do I believe you when you say this is the last feature add? Maybe, maybe not.

Fictional is also the only way I'VE played since version 4, as well. This is a HUGE feature for me, as I like to start all leagues in 1901 and generate a league history that somewhat parallels real MLB stat ranges by era.
Will the auto-adjust features work here as well, so that these league settings and creation modifiers keep stats appropriate for the year (or era) all the way through the present? One thing that I would love to see represented are the releatively low power (and to a lesser extent batting average) totals of middle infielders until the more modern times. With a few exceptions, the light-hitting shortstop and second basemen were largely prevalent until about the early to mid 80's, when guys like Ripken, Yount, and Sandberg began to change the game for good. Until then, the majority of middle infielders were on teams because of their defense, speed, and ability to do the little things like bunt and move runners. There are probably still a massive contingent of "fictional only" players out there, but we seem to be less vocal on the boards. I'm guilty as charged.
