Ping Markus: What's the One Thing...

...that you wanted in OOTP2007 but either a) didn't have enough time or, b) haven't figured out how to do yet.

Also, what are you most looking forward to in OOTP 2008?

Perhaps a little early for this type of discussion, but I'm most interested in the answer to the first question.

There really isn't anything, all features on my 2007 list are completed already.

For the future I want a) even more media/news and b) 2D/3D engine with a stadium builder! I want to see that danged ball bounce off the upper deck when my #4 hitter, who I drafted in the 1st round 3 years ago, crushes a pitch from the pitcher I always hated... But I want the whole field to fit into the screen, so that my imagination can cover the non-existent-next-generation presentation

Kind of like Micro league?

A stadium builder would be fantastic. Not that 2007 doesn't already posess a mind-numbing amount of features...

As for media/news stuff, I work for MLB.com and would be glad to lend a hand on new ideas for that kind of thing based on my real-world experiences once you've taken a well-deserved break and get started on OOTP 2008.

2d/3d

My goodness. If I had the genius of OOTPB w/ some 2D/3D where I could create uniforms (ala Micro League of course better since its been almost 15+ years) - that would be amazing. The 2D/3D wouldn't have to be anything as realistic as what the kids play on XBox & PS...

Markus, thanks for sharing your vision.

If ootp had some kind of 2d/3d like FPS Baseball did, but with the depth of ootp, I might turn into a zombie - only getting up to use the restroom and maybe get something to eat and drink.

I've played ootp since v2, but I still love playing games like MLB 2k7 and MLB The Show to see my players in action.

Hmmm, I might want to look at my retirement fund and see if I can retire at age 36. I'm not sure if I could hold a full-time job.

I agree Markus...

1) I would love to eventually see more news with users able to create networks, newspapers, reporter names, local markets. Perhaps a screen for each team where you define their television station, their radio station, etc. Then those things work throughout the news stories and play by play. Of course there would be defaults for people who don't want to mess with it...and well...retiring players could become announcers.

2) How about a 2-D engine with tiny stadiums and little ball players. The whole thing fits on the screen and you watch as if they were little tiny people down there playing and watching the game.

Oh come on! You'd never heard the phrase "Three strikes and your out?"

I'm glad to hear that Markus's hopes for the future of OOTP are similar to mine.
