too much platooning (from ootp 2006 forum)

What is that status of this issue? Is the AI in OOTP 2k7 still purely logical? Or is it "realistic" enough to keep a star in the lineup even if a scrub (of opposite handedness) has the same (or slighty better) rating against that side?

There is a setting in the game options if you want the AI to be sabermetric (strongly favor L/R splits) or traditional. That was part of the latest version of OOTP 2006 as well though...

Ya, I know; that's why I'm wondering if it has been improved. Regardless of sabermetric vs traditional, the AI seemed to platoon most of the lefties (even the superstars) in my leagues. This may be statistically logical, but I don't think most fans (or the players themselves) would willingly accept a manager pulling out the star lefty because there is a scrub righty on the bench that hits as well (or a tad bit better).

More details can be found here: Too much platooning
