Well, here goes....

This is going to be a flash-post followed by many other flash-posts. The winners only have a working game for 5 days, so we can't go into significant detail - but I'm not sure that was the intention. The five days is probably just enough time to get back some items and leave time to fix them before release.

Anyway, I'm going to use the Preview for what I do most (fictionals) and leave the other stuff for those that do THAT most.

I started out using the wizard. Pretty nice and fast! 24 team two league WITH pictures took less than 10 minutes and left you on a screen with a "Game Setup" options that lets you change things from there. Personally, however, I think I'd rather take the long way since I run through every option TWICE in my fictianl leagues because I'm that anal about the details. The Wizard is a GREAT addition, however, for the newcomers or those that aren't that interested in the details.

Fisrt time I created a league with pictures, it went through the motions but the pictures weren't ther. Second league I created it worked fine - so there might be a little problem there. I took a few minutes to change players names and recreate the picture - works like a charm! You can't imagine how much it adds to SEE the players - I never thought it would mean that much - I was wrong.

I ran through a 1901 season (without spending too much time in game setup) but got results I almost shed tears about. REAL, BELIEVABLE results with almost no setup. Batting leader at .374, homerun leader with 4, most wins 21, most SBs 62, most Triples 14, best ERA 2.35, GS 39. All well within reality

So far, so good

He says pictures in his post, so it isn't clear unless I missed where he said it was a fictional league (which I guess can be assumed)....errrr just nevermind me then. I kinda feel silly

Had more time to browse around and look at the interface - trying to compare it to 2006. There's no doubt there is more to this game. Subtle in many cases, but there none the less. The total effect is the game feels much more "polished" than 2006 did. Reorganized menus and shortcuts are definately more comfortable. The game doesn't feel like the shuttle with a bunch of toggle switches (which is exactly how 2006 felt to me).

That's not to say there isn't a ton of stuff here. It's hard to imagine an option that isn't here - although I'm sure there will be a few.

Given the limited time I've been with it, I can say that I suspect few shortcomings will be the result of something not working - everything seems to run very smooth. The devel, if there is one, will likely be in the deep dark details of the game... places few visit or rarely encounter.

I've seen blockbuster deals - that made sense! The front office financial picture for the early 1900's is amazing. 30 cent tickets, $8,000 salaries, game attendances of 3,500 in a 4,000 capacity park, and $11,000 "in the bank".

FacGen is worth its weight in Gold. The game creates the pictures it needs on the fly (and quickly). The News stories and editing feature are a thousand times better than in 2006 and on field game actually FEELS like a ballgame again. Mostly it's the "pace" of the game that brings back "baseball" into the experience.

The drag and drop ability on the field to position the players is a Godsend! No more trial and error.

There's a ton of things I want to look at, but I find myself "playing". A good sign considering that was the part that was missing in 2006!

I think this has been asked before, but I can't recall the answer. When replaying historically, how is ballpark data handled? Do we have to manually input stadium changes or is this another thing the game imports on it's own?

I'm nearly 100% sure I read that it imports it on its own.

I havent had time to delve to much into historical play yet, but from what I've done, ballparks look to be updated atuomatically. I haven't compared the in game stadiums to their real life counterparts however.

The ballparks are changed automatically by the game. It even changes the ballpark ratings for the ballpark. (I haven't checked if it does this per year or per ballpark but they are correct.) It simply edits the ballpark data assigned to each team without adding other ballparks.

What about stadium pictures? If I had a set of pictures for each team, will 2007 change the pictures as teams/stadiums change?
