For example Mark Redman just signed a Minor League contract with the Braves and it's a 2 way contract meaning he make the team or be in the Minors.
The Royals are waiting for Tuesday to make their cuts meaning people like Luke,Billy Buckner and so on will either be sent to the Minors or Minor League Camp. You should be able to Disable 40 or what ever number you have it set at man rosters from the start of Postseason intll Opening Day meaning you have what ever number of people on your roster at that time. Also in the Offseason letting you know that Winter Ball is going on and give your Stats of your Players and Pitchers who are playing in Winter Ball. The Offseason is good time to renew contracts with your Minor League teams if you don't or they get purchased by another team your going to find a new home for that team.

I was thinking more about this. Could it be as simple as adding a new contract type of NRI, with an option to pay a certain salary for one year (to be negotiated) if said player makes the active roster at opening day?

Negotiated before the player signs, right?

Yes. The player would negotiate a salary to be paid if he makes the team, similar to a performance bonus. (Note: I'm just suggesting a way it could work in the game, not necessarily IRL)
