How many hours a week will you be playing the game?

I'm curious to see how I compare to others in my OOTP addiction.

I wouldn't be. I play MMORPG's and am in a guild in one with a disabled guy who plays at least fifty hours a week.

I voted on 40+ a week, am retired and will host at least one, possibly 2 leagues and play in others. I have 2 websites from fidel montoya, one fan site with team page, forum and live chat for the red sox, ie newenglandsportscountry.com and my online ootp site, soxxcountry.com with same features, live chat with FREE BEER, at Duffys Tavern. Spend 12+ hours a day o n net and game.

Ideally, 20-29 hours would be a good amount of fun. In reality, I will have time for 3-4 hours tops. That's what having two kids, a job, and a running attempt at building a second career will to to a person.

On March 23-25 about 24 hours.

On April 14 and 15 about 24 hours.

The rest of the time 1-9 hours a week hours a week.

How are you getting so much time in on the 14 and 15th Peter?

The little lady will be out of town.

Does anyone have any suggestions I what I should do by myself for seven days in a row?

No though.

I would be a total mess with a lack of sleep and then being drunk.

If only the game had Female FaceGen, you wouldn't be asking this question.

I typically play 3 games a day, that way I can get thru a season a little bit faster. At about 20 min. a game, thats 7 hours a week. plus all the pouring over stats, looking at trades, and working on my own team, I typically spend about 25 hours week playing OOTP. I'm disabled and don't work, so it fills up a lot of time.

I'll aspire to play 20+ hours a week, but I can't envision that becoming a reality. It might however, as my ambition for v2007 is to play and learn more from direct experience and immersion, inquire of the forums if necessary, read more; say less.

As many as my wife will let me. I don't know which one she hates most OOTP
or baseball season. She says she only has a husband for like 5 months out of the year

Time with the game open just playing it? 3-6 hours a week. Testing it? 20 hours + a week. Plotting moves in my online league? 5 hours a week.

Except for the first few days when my wife will have to drag me kicking and screaming away from my pc, 1-9 hours per week should be the norm for me. While my wife is really not at all demanding (bless her - she actually loves and follows baseball), my 5 year old son and 2 year old daughter are. That being said, my 9 hours will mostly be tallied after my wife and two little ones are asleep, so we're talking some late night OOTP action!

Actually, I don't really plan on playing this version very much at all. Depending on how simple it is to modify the skins so I can see it easily, I may kill some time with it on occasion. Otherwise, I'll probably spend most of my time with OOTP '07 making suggestions and creating mock-ups for 2008.

I suppose I should explain a bit, lest someone think I'm dissing the upcoming release.

I'll download the game as soon as I have some serious time to devote to it after it's released. First, I'll just do a little tire-kicking and looking under the hood to get a feel for it. Then, assuming they're available, I'll probably download real player rosters and set up a league based on MLB. I'll do a quick auto-sim of a season to check out things like stats, transactions, injuries, and news stories and see how realistic it all feels.

Next, I'll likely take over as GM of a team and start over in the offseason and run my team for a few seasons.

At this point, I'm sure I'll want to tinker with some of the options to further develop my pet fictional league. (I'm sure this will include several hours of generating and tweaking photos with FaceGen!) Once I feel my league is up to snuff utilizing the new features, I'll probably test-sim a season or two and observe the results.

All of this should take up much of the first weekend of release (allowing myself ample time to watch the NCAA Tournament, of course.)

By Monday, though, my interest in actually playing OOTP will likely subside, giving way to the next phase... figuring out ways it can be improved next year. As strange as it may sound, I'm probably looking forward to seeing what all isn't in the '07 version than what IS in it. I already know many of the features that didn't make the cut, so it's more about having the game in front of me to start snapping screenshots to modify. (I realize I'm odd, but I'm almost more excited about this than playing the game!)

For the record, I believe OOTP 2007 will be an extraordinary game, miles ahead of last year. However, I accept that it'll almost certainly be a year or two before its at a point where I can really immerse myself in the game the way I want to. I'm very particular when it comes to realism, so I don't want to "spoil" the experience of simming my fictional league by having to suspend belief on certain aspects of the game.

By the way, if you're wondering why I bothered to order OOTP '07 when I don't plan on playing it more than a handful of times, it's mainly because I want to support the process of improving OOTP, both financially and with my own "power of suggestion". I've bought every version of the game since 2000 and I'm glad I did (and this even applies to OOTP '06 )

So my answer to the poll question is...

I'll likely average about 15 minutes a week playing... and about 8 hours a week planning for '08!

Im strictly a historical player, and if the revamped historical play is as good as advertised, and im hoping that it will be the best historical mode ever in any baseball game ever made, i can see this game going right back to the top of the list of sports sims I play. Just like the good ole days when OOTP was always my favorite sports sim. Hopefully I won't be disappointed. Heres to release day

Oh yeah,i got to say i could get a good 15-20 hours per week in,if it wasnt for that working and sleeping and eating thing,it would be much more.
