All I know, is that I heard some guy made a 100% correct Rohan name file, without crazy stuff like dwarves and half-elves in it. If you're going to run a Rohan team it better use that name file. Anything else is logically, morally, and intellectually bankrupt, and you're a unfathomably stupid noob who doesn't deserve our help or respect.

Back on subject folks, or we will have to close the thread, issue warnings, and all sorts of evil happenings. Markus has asked folks to stop, now we get back on topic.
Thanks.

i might be alone here, but this makes me nervous.
i come from the championship manager side of things. OOTP always seemed liked a poor substitute CM for baseball fans. the 2006 version was MILES ahead in every way above any OOTP version that came before it. i would occasionally get OOTP just to see if they were getting close to CM in any respects. while a nice game for what it was, it clearly was no CM. so, to hear someone suggest that there will be some of the 'old' stuff thrown in there makes me fear that they dumbed it back down to tickle the fancy of the old faithful. i sure hope not. i'm not sure there is a middle ground here. getting around in 2006 was a breeze for me, as CM had prepared me adequately. CM was amazing in almost being able to sense what info you wanted and then provided you with a way to get it right in front of your face. i had this sensation somewhat in 2006, too. any curmudgeoness from OOTP faithful on this topic obviously has to be placed in the "old dog/new tricks" basket. if i am correct, and this old faithful OOTP fan is pleased, it can most likely only mean that a step backwards has been taken. although i will certainly buy 2007, i might end up using 2006 for my league. |

On a more serious note, it has been said here repeatedly that the interface setup (minus some tweaks for navigation that have so far been almost universally heralded with praise) has not changed much. Most of what you hear about being brought back (and I assume have read about) are features that 'went away' and are now returning. In your case, I don't think I'd 'worry' too much. That, and it's 50% faster, with better aging/development, too. There is no dumbing down; this is a complex, challenging game. |
