While many people think Middle Earth baseball is synonymous with hobbits, I should like to point out what I'd really like to do is be able to realistically recreate the sort of epic battles that would take place between Dwarf leagues and Uruk-Hai leagues. It's pretty obvious that such a Middle Earth setup would maybe have hobbits for mascots, or trainers, but actual hobbit players would be exceedinly rare, maybe only as desperation player replacements after a particularly epic and bloody series.

Chris's write-ups are great - and he is a great commish. Looking forward to the 23rd and, more importantly, the IOSBL's allstar break!

Are you trying to say that a hobbit can't hit a curve ball?

Look, are you really going to see hobbits, hobbits(!), playing for the Mordor Maurauders? I don't think so.

Hobbits make great lead off hitters, their OBP's would be off the charts.

Yeah, they'd have Eddie Gaedel's strike zone. Historically, that has led to a walk 100% of the time.

This is becoming a strange phenomenon around here. Maybe we need to open up a hobbit talk forum, but the posts will count, unlike OT.

I still think hobbits would be good at the keystone. Their turn DP and infield arm ratings should be very good. Their range might be limited, but certainly no moreso than a dwarf's.

Of course you wouldn't find them on an orc team, but then you wouldn't find dwarves or elves on an orc team, either.

I think it's pretty obvious that an elf team would dominate the league. Five thousand years of experience will do that for you.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

Elves, hobbits, orcs, bah. An all-Balrog team would own them all.

Well, this would give new meaning to wanting to win a championship ring.

Me thinks Chris should get an unlocked review copy to use until the game comes out, after all, he is providing free advertising for the game...

I am hopeing that the new game is as big of an improvement as I am hearing. I really have not played OOTP2006 that much and spend a couple hours a night with my OOTP 6.5 leagues.

Check back in a week. I plan on purchasing a crushing retort to expend upon you (and yes, I was a chemistry major).
