TRTR : Day 13
Drafting
By Ronco. Antonio Mota was a bull of a kid even back in 2009 when he was drafted by the New York Attack. He was tall for his 18 years of age, but already carried 225 of what would eventually become his 229 pounds. http://www.ootpbaseball.net/clubhous...gid=26&id=1289 |

Yes. 've looked at the MLB Hall of Fame as my comparison. It's hard to use as a baseline because so few of the current day Hall of Fame have come during the time of the draft, meaning the sample size is very small. My personal guess is that after the dust settled, OOTP drafts will be a few percent weighted toward the upper rounds when compared to MLB. But it's too close to call right now.
I've seen OOTP leagues with as few as 40% HoF coming from the first round, and as high as 61%...for what that's worth. ![]() Last edited by RonCo : 03-08-2007 at 04:05 PM. |

Previous versions were a little more front loaded--v2006 in particular. I've also been testing a few things related to the use of MLEs that might allow leagues to provide for more variance. Too early to tell on that, though.

Give real life about 5 years to accumulate more players who were drafted, and I think we'll probably find a fairly flat sweet spot for the Hall from rounds 1-4, then a tail off. Just my guess, though. Like I said, real life sample size is too small to draw comparisons from. 90%+ of the inductees were signed directly, not drafted.
