Great Scouting Change

After playing the preview version for a few hours, one thing i love is your head scout does a monthly scouting report of your entire organization. I used to get so frustrated with OOTP/EHM when you had to assign a scout to get info on your own team.

The game is alot of fun, especially if you've mastered the interface in 2006.

Have you scheduled your scouts yet?

The head scout does a monthly scouting report in OOTPB2006. However, it appears to be a "quick scout" report, rather than a full-blown scouting report. Has that changed with the 2007 version?

Yes, it's a full scout now.

For scouting a human team it does it automatically.

This is a really, really great move by the development team. Much appreciated.

Will Scouts automatically pick a task to perform?? I don't believe this was in previous versions but what would be nice....

Say you get distracted and forget to send your scouts out on an assignment. It would be nice if the scout would automatically pick something or someone to go scout. There are a lot of features to this game and it would be very easy to forget for a week or two to have your scouts out scouting. No scout would just sit at home waiting for the owner to call him and say "Go scout Joe Smoe." He would take it upon himself to do it anyway.

Forgive me if I'm spreading leading rumor, but I thought I saw that there was the option for a "default scouting assignment" that scouts would automatically do if they didn't have any other specific assignments or had finished their assignment queue.

Sorry, I meant building a scouting task list, and then using the cycle task list checkbox.

There is. It's labeled as "Task If Idle". People often use it for scouting the upcoming opponent or a foreign nation.
