Total control over all teams / all aspects

I was one who purchased 2006 an was very disappointed, actually to the point that I have never used it. I am looking for a game in which I can take total control over every team in every level of the game. I do not want anything happening unless I make it happen. No trades, call ups, moves, etc unless I am the one doing it. If I make a trade, I want to be the one proposing it and then the one accepting it for the other team. Can this be done in this version? Are they offereing any upgrade special for those who purchased 2006?

Thanks

Nope. Personally, I think that they ought to give everyone who bought 2006 a free copy of 2007 and buy them a drink.

This can be done in every version of OOTP and will certainly be possible in 2007.

No it wasn't. The CPU messed with the teams that I even set as user in every aspect. This was one of the big reasons why I stopped playing with 2006 after a couple weeks.

Couldn't you just create as many human managers as you needed and have them assigned to all the teams?

Yeah, it seems anything is possible in OOTP, as long as you try.

No, there's no question, the 2006 model made life for the "God-moders" much more difficult.

In OOTP 6.5, all you had to do was "Set All Teams to Human Control". Then you could see everyone's messages, make changes for them, and so forth.

In 2006, because of the more complicated mail system and so forth, the model changed so that you essentially have to keep clicking the Act As button to see different teams' messages and so forth. Additionally, when you're just "acting as" the manager, you can't receive scouting reports or responses to trades, etc.

So, that mode of play really suffered from the change.

Unfortunately, westend, and I've had this conversation with Charlie Hustle 6.12 as well, but the model hasn't changed much to make life better for you again. Because I don't know exactly how you want to do things, I'd still urge you to download the demo and give it a try. But, I also don't want to sugar-coat it and say that "Yes, it's back to being as easy as in 6.5."

We do have people on the team, I think it was Syd Thrift, who say that they like to play in this way, and they think 2007 is better. So, I'd really urge you to get in touch with him, or again, to try the demo.

Steve

dola,

Some unvarnished comments from beta testers about this:

Quote:
I've been doing that a lot in my testing. It appears to be a little better than 2006. At least, now, when you do the "act as" you get the team's messages. You still can't run all teams at once and see all their messages, though, or just take over two teams and run them fully without logging in as two different human managers
Quote:
This is basically how I play. The game only sends you email if you're acting as a particular team, which really bites (if you send a guy out as an advance scout, you get the scouting reports added but don't get to see the little blurb about the team itself unless you happened to choose that team - and if you do this for every team, that means you get to read one summary at the most per series), but outside of that it works pretty well. Automated scouting task lists really, really helps.
Again, I'm sorry that it doesn't seem like the game has taken huge strides back towards your favorite way of playing.

Does this also mean that it will be difficult for me to commissioner a league for a group of people that doesn't have the game? I'm going to be running one online league for family and such, and I don't expect many of them to actually buy the game.

If it's at least possible for me to be in commissioner mode and not have to worry about AI screwing up the teams at all? (Even if I have to create human managers to fill in, I'm OK with that).

The AI no longer touches the teams if they are properly owned by a human or set to human control via the league setup.

Thats good to here. So if I want to run 4 teams by myself, and set the others to comuter control, I can control all aspects of those teams without having the computer messing with them..

That was corrected in a patch.

You could control everything in 2006.

I was playing the 1969 season and I controlled every team without AI interference.

Yeah, sorry, I should have pointed out that the AI moving your players was corrected in the last 2006 patch.

In 2007, there should NOT be any issues with the AI moving players on AI-controlled teams.

But can the human move players on the AI-controlled teams? (ducks quickly)

Wasn't there the option for the commish to take over every team in a league? It was buried somewhere, but allowed you to control all teams at once. You also got messages for all teams in your mailbox, I think. The only problem I saw was that sometimes you could not tell what team the message was for (e.g., the season expectations message).

I recall being able to edit all team's lineups this way without having to use the "act as"...

Was there something still wrong with this with the last patch? I must admit I never played far into a season this way. I also had scouting turned off...

Edit: that option was on the league setup screen

Dola,

I think I see the problem now. I just tried this in 2006 and could not get a a trade done. To initiate a trade you had to "act as" the initiating team, but the message to the other team never arrived? Or at least I could not find it after simming ahead for two weeks.

For me, a working "god mode" is probably the highest priority. Please make this work

Maybe a seprate "play in god mode" checkbox for the commish that collects all messages in his personal mailbox, with a line saying what team they are meant for? And generally disregarding the "act as" setting when it comes to messages?
