I do this as well, much of the time. It'd be nice to allow the option for Commish mode as well, IMO.

Toggle?

Yeah, that would be appreciated as an option.

Just out of curiosity, what ratings will the expansion GM's see for the players if you have Scouts turned on? In the example, the reviewer simmed pretty much right up to the expansion date and never mentioned hiring scouts or doing any kind of scouting.

This was a must-have feature and I am glad that it made it in.

I always play with scouts off, but I assume it would work exactly as the inaugural draft does, which is that your scouts would provide you with quick-scouts of all the available players.

In my experience, the AI will choose both ML-ready players and take risks on prospects, so you have to protect low prospects as well.

Yes, only an even number of teams.

Yes, you can always go to the league structure editor and delete those minor league affiliates.

I really like the new feature, but I'm a bit disappointed that you can not protect additional players after a round. I think there is a HUGE difference in giving the teams 20 players to protect or 15+3+3. Is that too difficult to implement?

When the expansion teams come in, they already have a staff in place, even if you get hired to take them over. So, all the players that are available will have already a scouting report done by your scouts, if you have scouting on.

In the last expansion draft in 1997, players who had just recently been drafted were not eligible. According to Wikipedia (which jives with my recollection of events), players drafted in 1996 and 1997 couldn't be selected, nor could players who were 18 or younger if they signed in 1995. It's worth noting, however, that both Tampa Bay and Arizona were participants in the 1996 and 1997 drafts.

It would be nice if something like this were included in the game, at least for 2008.

I think this might still work, hang on, let me try something, and I will get back to you.

I'm thinking that next year, hopefully it will have lots more options. Hopefully, I will write a proposal for Markus for him to look at.

If you run one team in commish mode, and sim until december, the game will stop your sim everytime you get a personal message unless you go on vacation. So, as long as you don't go on vacation, you will get a message stating that your protection lists are due and what not.

Right on. Thanks for the update, Mike.

I see. Do you have any idea WHEN this scouting takes place? Is it right before the actual draft or does it occur some time in advance of that?

Thank You Mike D for the information about expansion.

That is very comforting for some reason. Especially when I may want to be a commish and a manager at the same time.

It looks like it happens a day or two before the expansion draft.
