I feel I must publicly say this

I absolutley hated 2006. I made that clear.

After 30 minutes with the preview last night, I offer these initial thoughts:

This game is light years ahead of 06.

The UI, while still relatively close to last year's UI, does not give me the troubles it did.

The sim speed ZOOMS!

The life of an online commish is back to the ease with which it was carried out with v6.xx.

FaceGen has taken this game to a new level.

I've taken my 1908 Pro Circuit to the new version and used the era specific settings/financial button to get superb results in a matter of seconds.

This is definitely the version we all (me for sure) have been wanting since 6.5.

So, in short, if you're on the fence, get off of it. We've arrived in Xanadu.

If we can get league histories to import somehow, I can now uninstall all past versions.

Kudos to Markus and all who have worked/tested this game. You've done a wonderful job.

And now...............I've got all day today to play with this gem!

I'm glad to hear you've found happiness Mark, however the decision to "get off the fence" (as so many who've previewed the game are saying) will made by me when I get to try the game.

The old saying "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" very much applies to SI right now.

You mention league history import... but wasn't there a way to import league history into 2006 so that a conversion to 2007 would bring league history with it?

I thought I read that before, but I never bothered importing my 5.0 league to 2006 since I hated it and I also didn't want to lose league history.

I'm with Bruce. The demo will make the decision for me.

Signs and feedback are very encouraging, however.

The conversion from OOTP6 always brought player stats with it. There was a utility released last year to bring the player histories (the text-based stuff) along as well.

What neither of those two addressed was Catobase, the most powerful/popular history tool that OOTP6 had, which leagues had to "leave behind" because it wasn't supported by OOTP2006 (and Jeff Cato isn't around to create new versions of it).

It'll be good to have you back full-time, Mark. I hope you can get Pro Circuit back up and running. I thought it was a very cool league and if I didn't have half-a-million projects of my own going on (as always) I'd have loved to have been a part of it.

Here's one former Pro Circuit GM that thinks that's about the best news he's heard in weeks.

Sounds like you had a similar revelation Mark. Glad your feeling the same way. This version is a return to the original series - yet better.

OOTP '07 almost feels like I've hitched up with an old girlfriend (almost!)

I really don't understand how some of you can say that.

We all knew that 2006 was going to be a different game, no one ever claimed that it was going to be like the previous versions.

Not really fair to come up with that saying in my opinion.

I'm not sure about that, Deft...........perhaps for v3 and v4, but not so much now. Nevertheless, I think Markus has fixed the issues that I had with 2006. That's enough for me. Everyone can decide for themselves.

I'm glad to see a more positive reaction from Cooley regarding OOTP. I didn't share his sentiments regarding 2006, but hope we have the same opinion of 2007!!

Oh, and for a lot of us, your opinion still counts!! I am glad you enjoyed the game. First Henry/BCB, now Cooleyvol... OOTP2007 must be a hell of a game to get those two guys back in the fold...

It has nothing to do with anyone claiming it would be the same and everything to do with failing to deliver on promises/hype. I expected it to resemble a baseball sim and to be reasonably user friendly, something it never did.

I respect your opinion, please return the courtesy. It's very fair to say I was fooled once by SI. They didn't come close to delivering on what was promised, especially after all the hype.

They can hype 2007 all they like, same as they did 2006. I won't be fooled again this year.
