I am sure that ideas can be tossed around to create more/better filters for future releases. As it stands, the game produces a nice variety of stories for those that care to read them

Check the injury report, check the waiver wire, see if any new free agents have popped up, check my DFA list to see if it needs action, check my own guys on pending waivers, check for progress on the guys I've made offers to, how did each of my seven teams do yesterday, do I need to adjust any of their lineups, do I need to adjust any of their rotations, who's rested in the parent club's bullpen, check the development report (which better be better than the absolutely useless one in 2006), … and I'm sure there are four or five things I've forgotten to list. Which is more or less the point. The more of these things I can receive game notifications of, the fewer of them I'm going to miss. Simmers get injury notifications, but I don't because I play every day. Oh, but in 2007 they'll send me an injury e-mail, putting me on equal footing with the simmers. That's a GOOD thing. I do agree that there could be filters for categories of mail. I'm not interested in getting league news, but I do want to receive organization news. And I want an e-mail to tell me if a guy I offered a contract to signed with someone else. (In 2006 I'd get confirmation if he signed with me, but if he signed somewhere else, or with no one, I just didn't hear anything.) If people don't want injury news, or don't want development e-mails, then let them filter those out. Sounds good to me.

What a good idea. And when you get it done, please post it.

A lot of the glut of news and emails are of course because of the length of the sims. When you sim a week or more at once, it builds up. This is one of the values of my Realtime Baseball League, we will be go one day at time in simming, giving gm's the time to experience the whole game. Simming a week at a time get you there sooner, but you do lose a lot of he game in doing so, Brer Rabbit

I wasn't happy with the way email worked in v2006 and the things that bothered me have not changed in v2007. My workaround for solo play will probably be to just avoid OOTP email altogether except for trade offer season (end of year). This might require me to go into vacation mode, I've forgotten all the email settings but I recall that I can't turn the email off, just filter out everything but personal messages.
