Unhappy MS Vista

Is this game going to play nice with Vista?

it works fine for me with Vista - note that the first time you run the game on Vista you might have right click on the OOTP icon and run as admin. I ran into an issue with that but only once. It's worked normally (i.e. double-click the icon) every time after.

I think the most disappointing thing I've heard so far is that it still isn't multi-threaded.

if that is the most disappointing thing then you must be ecstatic for the release. I don't believe there is a lot of software taking full/any advantage of this yet. If you have a machine that is dual core then you'll likely see some great sim speed anyway. I do hope that in the future it will be something that is implemented into OOTP however.

It's pretty darn quick even without it (I'm running an X2), but I wouldn't complain if they figured out how to utilize this.

2006 worked perfectly using WINE, but I've yet to get 2007 to run in my admittedly limited time trying to do so. There's an issue related to how the game installs into two separate places - a change in Vista that does actually make a bit of sense. There's probably a config or registry setting I could alter in WINE in order to get it to work correctly, but at this point I haven't even tried.

I'm a historical simmer who loathed '06, so I'm pretty durned happy with what I've heard so far. My only two disappointments so far, remembering that I'm going by what I've read and that I haven't played it at all, have been the lack of multi-threading and the continued lack of 19th centruy support.
