Things that I would like to see in Players and Pitchers Notes
So you know Baseball Mogul has this.
Like that Barry Bonds likes playing for the Pirates and doesn't want to leave. Like Mike Mussina perfers to play for the San Diego Padres and Sammy Sosa perfers to play where it's warm. Like Tom Myers is considered as backup so don't start him everyday,Dan Weight is a Closer for years to come and Bob Smith looks like a Front Line starter. It always changes mean one time it might say that Greg Maddux doesn't like being the fifth Starter but wants to be the number one starter and the next time wants to be the 2 second starter on Red Sox or wants to join the Braves to play with Kelly Johnson.

mgom seems to not always be taken seriously around here, but I think he does have a good point. Sure no one wants to be a bench player- but some guys realize that theyre not all that good and are happy to have just made the roster. Likewise, rumor had it that soriano did not want to play on the west coast so potentialy it would have taken an even larger deal to get him to play in SD or so (if even possible). I'm not exactly sure how the morale system works in 07, but this could make a big difference in signing free agents, extensions etc...

Well, it's not really in the same way as Mogul, but in this year's version of OOTPB, players have expectations and morale, which can be seen on the player profile, and their morale will change accordingly. They will also send you e-mails if they're unhappy.
For example, you might get an e-mail from your slumping slugger, complaining that you moved him out of the middle of the order. That stud starter who you converted to a closer might get pissed off and decide not to sign an extension, and so forth. Is this what you mean? |

I totally agree. I've been lobbying for giving the players more personality for years. Just because Baseball Mogul does something doesn't mean it's stupid. There are a lot of things BM does that I'd like to see OOTP incorporate. (And btw, I downloaded the new BM demo. Of course, it's still light years behind OOTP, but the in-game screen is rather visually stunning for a text sim.)
As for mgom, I've always just assumed that English isn't his first language. But while I often have trouble comprehending what he has to say, I like that he's concise and he certainly drives home his points. Sure he repeats himself a lot, but hey... the squeaky wheel gets the grease, right? ![]() |

If it's anything like previous versions, I have had the AI offer me 4 scrubs with no hope of making the majors for my #1 pitcher. Other times it's just trying to dump a lot of salary on me.

I like the fact that moving a player from a position they prefer can hurt your chances of resigning them but from what I gather you only find out about it after its said and done. |

They might resign with you if you add they favorite person to the team or win the World Series.
I like the funny notes on the person. I would to see RFA's in the game so if somebody trys to sign them you can match it or get draft Picks in return.

What Steve said. It's in the players profile how he prefers to be treated, and if you go against it their are several levels of happiness, or lack thereof in the game that you'll encounter ie. very happy, happy, unhappy, angry etc. Managerial experience is put to the test here guys. |

One thing I'd eventually like to see is the ability to propose an idea to a player. To take a guy aside who has been struggling in the rotation and say: "We want to try you out in the bullpen," and see his reaction. Or to say to a guy, "You have a no-trade clause. Would you be willing to waive it, and if so, what teams would you be willing to go to?" Or, to a free agent: "We want to sign you as a third baseman. Would you be willing to make that transition?"
These sorts of things happen all the time IRL.
