What are the chances of ever having this feature added into the game? It would be a huge bonus to be able to have this every 3 years in the spring. Has this ever been discussed to any extent before?

If you do a search on this topic you will finds lots of earlier threads on this. It was a hot discussion item a year ago when the first WBC was starting and OOTP was about to come out.

Yeah, this has been discussed frequently… among posters. Marcus hasn't had much to say. I'm still hoping for 2008, but who knows?

I could see this as one of the features for 2008, need to have something good to add every year so this could be one of them.

Sucks for 2007, but there is so many other features they have worked on that had more priority I can understand it not being in.

There's a lot of demand for this so don't be surprised if it is addressed next release since these guys are great about listening to customer feedback to improve their game.

Also there's lots of code that could possibly be used (?) from SI's Football Manager series regarding how International tournaments are done so hopefully that would make it easier than it otherwise might be for Markus and his team.

OOTP keeps getting better each year either way, so if we don't get it in 2008, hopefully in 2009, but one day it will come I am sure

I agree, this would be huge. Especially if it had the level of customization that the rest of OOTP has. I'd love to set the number of teams/countries involved, have players who are playing in my US league, play for their own country. It would be great.

I'm fairly certain the idea of the Classic will be eventually be added to the game. Personally, I'd prefer (or in addition) the ability to, at the end of the season, select all or some of my league champions (World Series, USBL, Federation League winner, etc...) and truly have a champion's playoff for what would amount to a Universe Champion's Series.

I'm told, but not done it, that you can schedule specific matchups as exhibition games and that this history is saved. I guess I'd just like to see it taken that one step further where we can establish a Universe title in the hierarchy of championships and that pennant record, along with its histories, would be kept as well. I think its time will come. I'm sure, in the meantime, there'll be a way of placing it in team notes or such. I realize adding another layer like this, even if optional, creates another field in html histories, etc... so it's not quite as simple as it sounds. Nonetheless, I like the idea. I like the WBC idea too, but for me it's more a World Player's All Star composition than actually pitting champion teams against champion teams, that's all. Just a style preference.

Basically there are three things from the soccer model that are ideas put forth repeatedly on this board. One is the WBC/World Cup, the other is the Champions League that Endgame just mentioned and then you have knuckleheads like me running around and asking for promotion/relegation league financial structure options. The first two ideas are very popular and the third comes up from time to time but I wouldn't class it at the level of the other two in frequency of request. I'd probably use the WBC/World Cup and Promotion/Relegation more personally but I'd love to see the Champions League option too. It's probably better for my social life if none of this ever happens though

Ha! Good point.

Some of us have simply abandoned social lives to provide for greater clarity of our priorities. At least that's my excuse.
