Should this be a poll?

Do you always have to comment on every thread?

Its an AI option you have to choose in the game.

Just curious what others will choose.

No, and in fact, I don't.

I don't know yet. I'll have to see how it's executed in v2007.

I go with either one. I don't really think a whole lot about it. But I think more often than not I go with sabermetric.

I think traditional probably gets results more like they've been in history and sabermetric is probably more competitive, but I would guess that the difference is pretty minimal.

My teams always use splits. I was raised on Earl and, you know... winning.

But in leagues where I'm in God/Commish mode there are definitely teams that would use traditional. In fact, I wish it went further, so there was an illogical mode and a few bad teams would act like they had stupid/petty/idiosyncratic managers.

Q: you are able to set this up on an individual team basis, right? It's not a universal setting?

Basically, "sabermetric" will make heavy use of lefty-righty differences in ratings. You might see a team bat a Ken Griffey Jr. 3rd against RHPs and 7th against LHPs. "Traditional" looks more at the gestalt player; while it will still platoon, it won't move guys all over the lineup, or at least won't do it as much.

I prefer traditional because sabermetric creates lineups that are too easily exploitable by somebody with a big bullpen.

Not if you have a big bench. I see your LOOGY, and raise you a lefty-masher. By the rules your LOOGY has to face at least one hitter.

HE doesn't; I do.

Sabremetric — anything to help out the AI. Besides, I'm sabremetric, so why not the AI?

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

For myself Sabremetic, although I am very pleased you can select either option for each manager/lineup.

I will set the league to traditional, because it is more true to life. It is the way managers use their players, partly because personalities are involved.
But I will set my own team's lineups in a more sabermetic manner, since it is probably more effective.
