Historical Fiction Players - What Are Your Rules?
I am a Historical Fiction player of OOTP, meaning I do historical replays, but I change up the world so that it is a clear alternate history.
My rules are as follows: - My OOTP universe tends to be large, with many international leagues that can have player movement among each other. These players can be signed by MLB teams, but MLB players cannot leave the MLB. - Start in 1870 with fictional players and import players via Lahman or A-Rod/Garlon. 32 team MLB is selected, with 4 divisions of 4 teams in each league. I add the Brooklyn Blue Sox and Portland Pioneers to the current MLB teams. I also tend to call the Kansas City team the Monarchs instead of the Royals. Players are drafted and not assigned to original teams. Sometimes I go to 5 teams per league and play a 40 team MLB but it is a bit much. - I select 10 players for each "franchise" to own. These players are signed with a 10 year, $10 million per year contract to the owning team upon their entry to the league. "Fiction franchises" may select Japanese/Negro/Cuban Leaguers, however, Kansas City gets Satchel Paige, Cool Papa Bell and Hilton Smith. So Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio go to the Yankees, for example, and by pass the draft. Same with Ted Williams, Roger Clemens, Yaz, Cy Young and Tris Speaker for the Red Sox. After the 10 years expire, these players are free to move on or stay with the team, I let the AI determine it. - I use A-Rod/Garlon for the Negro leaguers but I typically add a few more. Negro Leaguers in addition to A-Rod/Garlon group: Walter Ball, Bill Monroe, Dick Redding, Cum Posey, John Donaldson, Dave Brown, Oliver Marcelle, Nip Winters, John Beckwith, Dobie Moore, Edgar Wesley, Fats Jenkins, Heavy Johnson, Chino Smith, Terris McDuffie, Luis Tiant, Sr., Bill Byrd, Stuart Jones. Japanese superstars I add: Eiji Sawamura, Victor Starrfin, Tetsuharu Kawakami, Hideo Fujimoto, Masaichi Kaneda, Wally Yonamine, Katsuya Nomura, Kazuhisa Inao, Shigeo Nagashima, Sadaharu Oh, Isao Harimoto, Minoru Murayama, Sachio Kinugasa, Yutaka Enatsu, Yutaka Fukumoto, Kojo Yamamoto, Hiromitsu Kadota, Hiromitsu Ochiai, Kazuhiro Kiyohara, Atsuya Furuta, Michihiro Ogasawara, Koji Uehara and Kosuke Fukudome. Daisuke Matsuzaka and Kei Igawa still need to be manually entered but Ichiro, the Matsuis, Nomo etc, I just let come in during the years they came to MLB and make them 21 years old. I also add Omar Linares, Orestes Kindelan, Yadel Martí, Pedro Luis Lazo and Yulieski Gourriel, as well as having Jose Contreras and Orlando Hernandez come in the league at 21 years old (I let them come in during their real debut year and just set their age back). |
