Mod Ideas
All the data is in the dumps to create these utils but here are a few I would like to see (and if I ever re-install VS Studio back on my PC, I would like to create):
1. Winshares pages by teams, by players and by leagues. Keep simple using the OOTP html pages as an example and just add the winshares table to the pages. 2. Normalized/Neutralized stats pages. With historical leagues using different eras, as well as fictional now I guess, and with the different leagues have MLE it would be nice to see this feature. I envision something like the new pages at Baseball-Reference.com that have the 750 run year/68 Dodgers/and 2000 Rockies as examples. What I would think would be better though would be for a text box to appear asking how many runs would the team score in a 162 game season. Then simply hit the conversion button and it would show the pages for a single player, a team or a league (what ever was requested). This could also be done with MLEs. Imagine requesting a page to show what your Japanese player may have done in your current major league based on his career in Japan..... endless possibilities. 3. Personal Almanacs or Encyclopedia. Select players to track and have pages built showing there career, batting and pitching matchups, sabermetric and traditional stats, splits and WINSHARES. Everyone has there favorite players that they follow in their solo or on line leagues. This would be fun. 4. Simple fuzzy logic report generator, html to txt documents, There are many more that I can think of but these are the ones I would like to see. |

The one little mod I'd love to see is a program that will do the following:
Take the standings from the game and generate a bbcode version of a text file that lines all the columns up properly (in other words, enclosed by code tags and values spaced with space characters). Additionally, it would allow you to select which columns from the standings you want (team name, wins, losses, win pct, games behind, last 10, etc.) in the text file. Also, something that will generate a bbcode version of league leaders. Options would include which stats you want leaders for, how many players to include in the leaders report (for example, the top 3 in OPS, or the top 5 or top 10). It'd be sooooooooooo useful for making dynasty report posts. Save all that typing and lining up in Notepad, which isn't difficult, but time-consuming. If I had any amount of time at all, I'd write it myself, but my programming skills are rusty at best, and I've got too much else on my plate. So if it interests any of the programmers out there, take it away. ![]()

I'm glad someone else thinks so. The one thing I dread about dynasty posts is typing out the standings and league leaders. Even just editing pre-formatted posts is a pain in the neck. If it could be done automatically...
