what happens to players when loading entire league history?

Does the game create players / player cards/html reports for all the players in the Lahman database if entire league history is enabled when creating a historical season?!?

For example, say I want to start my historical league in 1977 and import that year and the entire previous history from the Lahman database. Will I be able to see Babe Ruth as a player (long since retired) and click on his name to bring up a player card/report?!?

Will players that debuted in 1975 or 1976, but did not play in the majors in 1977 be available as real players or just their stats will be brought into the universe?

I don't really understand how the game brings in/uses stats from players that debuted prior to the imported year, but did not play in the imported year.

Any and all insight / actual OOTP2007 experience would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It works exactly like you describe. When you import 1977 with full history, you have guys like ruth in the retired players list & hall of fame

Thank you for the reply.

So, if I import 1983 that means Rollie Fingers will in the retired list (because he missed the entire season with an injury) even though he came back to pitch in 1984 & 85?

Not a big deal, just need to remember that when picking a start year.

Thanks again for the response and best of luck on the release!!

That is a good question...... I would like to know if he is DL'd or retired or Dave Winfield for 1989 (does he come with one wife or two? *commonlaw*)

Kind of like Pac-Man? That's a scary thought.

Whatever happened to old Cecil? Last time I heard he was hiding out from process servers for all his gambling debt he rang up.

here's an additional question on that topic -
if I start in 1970...will the players that arrived in 71 and following years be available at years end or do I have to import?

Carp

I'm pretty sure that what you're asking about was in 2006. You mean are each year's new (real, historical) players imported automatically? If so, almost certainly yes.

Can anyone point me to a link with the newest lahman database? Currently I have 5.3 I believe (It includes 2005's rookies, but not 2006)
