As far as the "rushing him to make a deadline comment" I think he's the one that posted this poll stating that he would originally have something released by Sunday. We didn't start asking questions until he missed his first deadline.
Show me one place anywhere on these boards where Markus or Marc promised real rosters along with this game and then you might have a legitimate issue. This game has always been advertised as a fictional league or historical league universe with the ability to easily import rosters created by other users (including real life MLB rosters). The problem is people like you expect the real rosters when the game is released, and when it takes longer, you get upset. It's true APujols probably should have never come on here to give any kind of update on the progress he was making on the roster sets. I cringe everytime I see a roster maker say they are going to make such and such a timeline because I know even if they are hours late, they are going to get crucified by people thinking they are entitled to rosters. If he wanted to, APujols could decide screw it, it's not worth the headache, and keep the rosters to himself and never release them. Would people be disappointed? Absolutely, but as others have said, if you want rosters by a certain date, do them yourself.

OOTP 2008
Marcus gives a beta to a "selected beta tester" who will do the job
That beta tester creates the roster set and has them ready at release
That roster creator charges 9.99 to download with all updates included.

How would that change all of this?

No. It really isn't. Not at all.

No, I/we am not "entitled" to this roster set. I get that. However, I/we are "entitled" to my/our feelings.

IE. If I make a very clear promise to my 10 year old son I will take him to Disney Land next week, and I don't deliver - who's more at fault ? Me for breaking my promise (due to unforseen circumstances or not) - you betcha, that would be my bad. Under your theory however, he would be at fault for getting his hopes up, and then feeling disappointed. Well, truth is - he has every right to feel disappointed. And has every right to express it. If I don't want to hear it, then I shouldn't have promised him something I wouldn't be able to deliver.

See how it works.

I couldn't decide, so I picked both.

First off I never mentioned Markus promising these rosters. It was cubby fan and the link is here:
What rosters would you like to see in a "real life" roster release?

LOL The most over used quote, do them yourself. Personally I'm sick of this. I addressed this. What is the sense of me doing a roster set when, originally, Cubby fan promised a set for the release of the game and Rolen and his group have advertised "the best ever roster set". I have already volunteered to do them next year. THere is a great solution to these roster problems a few posts ahead of mine.

I'm not complaining myself because I don't really care about this set, but the bottom line is that we got this initial quote:

Quote:
SO it would be an absolute definite for a release on Sunday
and it's now noon on Tuesday.

So the people complaining are right, IMO.

The MLBPA would certainly have a beef with this setup.

And if he made no promises, they'd still be complaining about them not being released. It's a no win situation. Either you project when you are going to release them and risk people getting all pissy when you dont make the deadline or you don't make any promises and people get pissy because you won't make a deadline.

See how it works.

And there are many people on this board who handle this about the same way as a 10 year old.

That sounded pretty solid to me that there would be a roster set released with or the day after the game was released.

And then people would complain because the set is as of some date before opening day.

Oh yeah...forgot about the MLBPA....every good solution has a snag.
It'd be much easier if all major leaguers today were fictional.....

Let me get this straight.....somebody who I don't know working on their free time to provide me with something that they are under no obligation to do not getting it done in the timeframe that they committed to is being compared to failing to take a 10 yr old to Disney Land? I'd love to have the rosters too, but I'm not planning my life around it. Go outside, take a walk or something, go about your life. Take the guys word for it that he's busy. Or...next time someone gives you a date on here, add 2 weeks to it in your mind so that you can't be disappointed.

I have no idea what your trying to say. Last year Cubby missed deadline after deadline with his roster set. I don't want to see that happen this year but its heading that direction.

I'm not bitching, I'm just stating the facts. I have 29 other guys waiting to get a league started. I've searched all different types of options and this is the only set that will be worth a damn. I just hope all is well with AP and am looking forward to an update to end this bickering.
