Is there an easy way to slightly increase the endurance of SPs, without changing the "Era Settings" toggle to "High"?
I'd like a few more CG/SHO.

There's a modifier for pitcher endurance. Just increase that a bit.

Is there a way to adjust pitcher endurance similar to how you increased running speed? I can't seem to find anything like that anywhere. Thanks.

On a related note...is there a need to edit the league totals? I always thought it was one or the other...meaning edit the league totals or edit the modifier value.

Both have an impact. I started with the league totals, and then fine-tuned with the modifiers. I'm sure it can be done by starting with the modifiers. I just didn't do it that way. {shurg}

BTW...doesn't it matter how many teams there are in the league for the totals?

Question: Is it okay to modify the League Totals once you've created a league, or will it cause problems because the players were generated based on another set of totals? My situation is that I've just generated a league based on the out-of-the-box League Totals supplied by the game, but would much prefer to get the kind of statistical results generated by these improved totals.

I was a little worried after I tried your settings since I did'nt seem to get the results I hoped for, then I realized I hadn't changed some of the settings for pitcher endurance and relief pitcher usage.
Tried a new league with ALL of your settings and it's bang on. Great job on them and thank you. |

I have yet to try this out but if Skydog's stats are correct this is exactly how I want my league to look. Like Skydog, I want on rare occasions for players to hit 60+ HRs in a season. I rather prefer to see batters hitting the 30-40 HR mark with 50 HRs being great while 60+ HRs being outstanding.
Thanks for these settings Skydog and thanks for sharing them. This is very nice of you. |

Yes it's nice to see seaon ending stats without players using steroids. lol Now when is the creator of this going to implement hidden steroid usage, discovery, suspensions and congressional whatchamacallits (hearings). haha This sure put a bite into Barry Bonds HR hitting ability for sure. But, then you have a guy like Albert Pujols who well everyone says doesn't use steriods and it really puts his HR numbers too low. I just had a season where the highest HR's hit was 39 and Alex Rodriquez did that. lol I'm going to muck with the modifier some more I sorta think realistically in todays time that at least 50 HR's should be common for most in a year. Now, 60, and especially 70's should be very uncommon or rare. I like Barry Bonds, but, somehow someway after the watergate incident for steroid use in baseball I kinda believe all those high HR's hit in those couple of years were steriod HR's and not just by Bonds but Schmidt and Sosa as well. Palmerio already has been exposed and I deleted him from the Hall of Fame Almanac when he was exposed. haha It's almost hard to put it past any of a certain group of players in a certain generation not using steroids, pitchers included. Maybe they should do some serious testing on Roger Clemons, Randy Johnson and perhaps even Nolan Ryan maybe they all had a few juicers as well. hehe (oh am I gonna get slammed by baseball fanatic fanbois here haha).
One question to the OP about settings, do you checkbox the one about modifying the year end league modifiers:IE: Automatically adjust league totals modifiers after every year for historical accuracy?? Or do you leave this unchecked so every year uses these same figures you have listed on the first page? |

Otherwise, the settings change automatically after the first season to whatever MLB looked like at that time. Leaving it unchecked lets the settings (and generated stats) stay more consistent, as you've already noted above.

I've started a test league with these setting. I only am testing an 8 team league right now (my actual league with be 12), and I've noticed a low HR total for the league high. It only 5 years played so far, so sample size is small, but my all-time leader is 41, with a normal amount for the league lead being at 35ish. Likewise, OPS is suffering with only 1 player having over 1.000 for the year, and just 3-5 over .900 usually, if that many.
Just something I found and thought Id share with those running smaller leagues. |

I've tried this several times using the exact parameters SkyDog suggests but I keep coming up with leagues that are too pitching heavy.
Specifically, even after three attempts of simming up 30 years with these settings I look back and there are an average of about 1.5 sub 2.00 ERA seasons a year. That is very annoying. Some guys have four, five, or six years in a row that would make Bob Gibson jealous. What am I doing wrong? - 24 Team League - Two levels of minors - 10 Round Ammy draft Why am I not getting the same results as you guys? I've also noticed that the pitching gets more and more dominant year by year so that by the time I'm in year 20 or so of the sim both leagues have ERA's of around 3.50. How have I screwed this up??? |
