Question Changing League Structures

If the answers to these questions are in the game guide, just say so and don't bother explaining.

First, suppose I start with the standard modern MLB universe with thirty teams and thirteen minor leagues, then I decide that I want the International League and Pacific Coast League to be sub-leagues of the 'AAA Affiliates Association'. How do I go about that? How would I turn the PCL into a sub-league of the IL?

Second, instead of the preceeding, suppose I wanted to fold the PCL, but transfer four of its franchises to the IL as its Pacific Division, how would I do that? I do know how to add and subtract divisions from existing leagues.

In both cases, assume I want to do this before the universe starts, so there is no history to carry over.

But really all I want to do is play.

So I'll try harder to be patient and hopefully the board will be patient with me.
And yes, I am still continuing my campaign to promote adding a 'mass select' option to Out of the Park 10.

I thought the first part was going to be fairly easy, but it's not. I thought I could unaffiliate the IL and change its League Level to Major League Level, then make the PCL's Parent League be the IL and change the IL's level back to AAA. And that works...to a point. As long as the IL remains unaffiliated, you can have it be AAA level and have it be the parent of the PCL. However, as soon as you re-associate the IL with the MAL, the PCL becomes unaffiliated.

So, either you need to leave the IL as an independent league, or you can create a new "AAA Affiliates Association" and make one subl-league be the IL and the other be the PCL. But then you'd have to change the whole division structure of the PCL, because it has 2 subleagues. You can't have 3 subleagues (IL + 2 PCL).

Doing the second part (folding the PCL and moving 4 franchises to the IL) is easy, though. Just go to the IL and add the new division, then go to the PCL and move the teams to the new division of the IL.

How does one "move" teams? I like having geographical divisions in my fictional leagues and would sure love a way to "drag and drop" the computer generated cities around.

During the offseason, go to the League Setup and press the "Edit League Structure" button. To the right of each team is a "Move Team" button. Press it, and it gives you a list of existing leagues and divisions as destinations. Choose one, and the team will go there.

As has been pointed out, this is problematic at the moment. If it were 1997 or earlier, then you could put the American Association and International League under a single AAA umbrella organization and leave the PCL as a second, separate AAA organization. But the dissolution of the AA after the 1997 season puts an end to that idea...

One important item to note in any restructuring you do: BOTH subleagues inside a league MUST have the SAME number of divisions. If you give each subleague a different number of divisions, the playoffs won't work correctly (you'll have incorrect playoff qualifiers in one or the other of the subleagues).

Ah! I knew that was true in 2006, but thought it had been corrected in 2007. Thank you.
