The Jesus Rodriguez Award

Well, it happened ALOT faster than I thought .. but wow.

I started a fictional league in 1901, and am simming 50 years for history. I used Skydogs fic. settings (Awesome by the way, thanks SD if you read)

I had planned on renaming the "hitter of the year", etc. awards after a player at some point - if someone ever deserved it.

I stopped the sim at 1919, just to do a quick check - see how things are going, etc. when Rodriguez caught my eye.

He started as a 23 yr. old when the league started - so perfect timing for a long career (and he just happened to retire last year too, so I got to look at all of it)- here's what he's done ...

Stat / Number / (Career Ranking) :

BA .324 (1)
HR 526 (1)
RBI 1759 (1)
OBP .453 (1)
SL% .543 (1)
OPS .996 (1)
VORP 1323.5 (1)
Runs 1791 (1)
Hits 2960 (1)
Tot Bases 4955 (1)
BBs 2150 (1)

OK, I know, it's only been 19 years .. and he is one of the lucky ones to play 'em all - so some/most of those records prolly won't stand the test of time ... but check this out ..

ELEVEN straight MVPs ! 1904-1914

Bad news ... poor Jesus never got a ring. He played all 18 years for the New York Revolution, led them to the playoffs 8 times, & to the World Series 4 times ..... but - no ring .

I LOVE THIS GAME

Seriously I would love to see how many records stand and then who breaks them.

Slightly OT here, and I may have to repost in its own thread, but...

When you create a universe/league and sim it for several years to develop history like you did, do you have a GM in place already? Whenever I tried doing something like this in previous versions, I could never get a job. When you're done simming, do you just take a rookie ball manager job?

Yeah, I had a GM, but he (I) have no team, not commish. When you wanna jump in, you can take any team you want. ust set your GM (- or a new one cause the original is older ! lol) to commish, and be any team you want - then you can turn off commish if you want.

For those that said they wondered how many would stand ... It's now '51, and here are his rankings.

BA .324 (2)
HR 526 (2)
RBI 1759 (3)
OBP .453 (1)
SL% .543 (2)
OPS .996 (1)
VORP 1323.5 (1)

Hits 2960 (2)

All my league settings & player creations are the same, so I'm Not sure why my results are so different than SkyDogs, but after 50 years - I've only had 1 member of the 3,000 hit club, and 3 members of the 500 HR club.

Dogs had 27 3,000 hit guys, and 23 500 HR guys (in 100 years). Maybe cuz my league is small ? (16 teams)
