AI Evaluation for Stars for Minor Leaguers
If AI eval for ovr is set to 100% stats for a current or previous year, are those only major league stats, or does that include minor league stats? I changed it to 100% stats, but didn't notice a star change for any of my minor leaguers.
If it included minor league stats, this would be a fantastic way to glance through your minor league roster to see who is having a decent year and might deserve a callup. |

Ah, thanks, Markus. A reply from the Man himself!
![]() Maybe all of my affiliates are having terrible years, but even at 100% current year stats, everyone in my minors still has 1 star OVR. I'll try it on a 20-80 scale and see if it changes. Last edited by Neags23 : 04-24-2007 at 09:33 AM. |

Okay, so either it's not properly evaluating player stats for an OVR rating, or there's just a fundamental flaw with the OVR rating system as a whole. I switched my AI Eval. to 100% current year stats. The ratings seem arbitrary at best. Example:
ML starting pitcher #1. 3-6 5.05 era 76.2 IP OVR -- 61 ML starting pitcher #2. 4-4 3.45 era 73.0 IP OVR -- 41 How on earth is #1 higher than #2???? ML 1B .267/.321/.511 16 HR 270AB OVR -- 22 ML SS .272/.356./.491 10 HR 228AB OVR -- 44 ML CF .324/.360/.562 6 HR 105AB OVR -- 20 How is that 3rd guy a 20? I know he only has 105 AB, but he's obviously superior to the other two. And in what league is .324 a 20??? And no matter how good the stats, any minor league pitcher has a 20 OVR. AAA SP #1 5-2 1.85 era 13.7k/9 82 IP OVR -- 20 AAA SP #2 6-4 3.06 era 14.7k/9 109IP OVR -- 20 AAA SP #3 1-9 4.46 era 6.8k/9 80IP OVR -- 20 Something is definitely not right here. I know Markus said that ML stats are worth more than AAA, but this is ridiculous. And yes, before anyone says anything (if anyone says anything at all... seems to be a dead thread), this is comparing all players, not just positions. And it is definitely 100% current year stats. Is no one else seeing this? |

It apparently affects ratings, too. If you fool around with it a little, you'll notice your ratings change. Put it at 100% ratings and look at a handful of players, then put it at 100% stats one year ago and look at the same handful of players.
Also, Solonor told me so in this thread: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...28#post2163428 first page. ![]() Last edited by Neags23 : 04-24-2007 at 04:39 PM. |

I think you may be confused what stars mean. I don't think stats will influence the stars even if the evaluations are set to 100%. My understanding is that stars give you a indication of a players ability (read:ratings) compared to other players at that position in your "universe"
For example lets take a player (100 point scale) who has a 70 contact rating who is rated 4 star potential, his current contact is 20 so he has 1 star current and 4 star potential. Doesn't matter that he hit .320 in A or AA this year he is still only progressed to a 1 of a possble 4 stars ratings wise. I hope this makes sense. Again I may be wrong but this is how I have always viewed stars. They are not an exact indicator of success. I have had 1 star players have great years and 5 star players who struggled, but their stars didn't change with their stats only if their ratings changed. |
