When do new players appear in OOTP. Is it just at an inaugural draft, and when the amateur draft is announced? Or do a random crop of new free agents appear as well at the beginning of the year?

I'm guessing the last part is true for High School and College leagues where there has to be a constant influx and as there isn't a draft they must come through yearly creation.

But apart from clicking 'Add New Player', a player won't just suddenly materialise during the course of a season?

If you have 'create and maintain hidden players' enabled, teams may find new players when scouting other countries. According to other threads, AI teams are signing international players in OOTP 2007 (I don't think it happened in OOTP 2006), although it is very uncommon.
