"Fictional Historical" finally works ;)

Ok, late to the party after the last patch, but hey, I've been busy

Figured I'd give it a shot, since I'd tried to do this before, but unsuccessfully to create a 'fictional MLB'.

The stolen base & home run problems are gone.

Here's a few numbers..

104 position players are in the hall of fame.
63 pitchers are in the hall of fame.

Single Season HR record is 73, set in 2001. There's been 3 different 70+ HR seasons, 2000, 2001, 2006. The first two by Harry Pierce, no word yet from the Commissioner's Office regarding an investigation. Mr. Pierce is also closing in on (722) the Career HR total of 757 set by Haywood Gibbs.

Single Season average, a whopping .417 in 1959 by Pat McNeely.
Single Season ERA, 1.27 set in 1907
Career Wins: 361
The previous holder of this at 355 was Bob Bice. He pitched from 1901-1920. Despite his consistency, he was never pitcher of the year. One Gold Glove. Only other award was Pitcher of the month award 6 times, but he won games.

Career Ks: 4400
Career Hits: 3595 (done in the years 1975-1995)

Single Season Stolen Bases: 141 in 1914 by Wallace Schmidt. Next nearest total was 113.

The Triple Crown for hitting has been accomplished 11 times, by 9 different people. The aforementioned Mr. McNeely did it twice, as did Dave Tinker, back to back in 1953 & 1954.

Longest hitting streak?

59 games by Sean Strang 1922. Amazing. He goes 0-5 against the Cubs to end the streak. The very next day, injures his elbow and is out for 3 weeks. Talk about going from a high to a low.

Team with the greatest success is the Cleveland Indians. They've won 13 titles with 31 trips to the post season. Contrast with the Tigers, who've only managed 6 post seasons (4 of which have been since 1999), and only 2 World Series wins.

So.... there it is.

I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but could you give me a quick heads up how to set this up?

Just make a historical league (import from lahman or whatever). Then release all the players to free agency. Delete all free agents. Fill teams with fictional players. Uncheck box to auto import rookies. Check box to auto expand.

That covers the basics I believe. Then you can change any other options you like.

What were your settings for auto league modifiers and player recalc? I'm assuming on (default) for the modifiers and off for recalc?

I leave the modifiers on. I assume you mean to import historical data and such. As far as recalc, no need for it since you will not have real players.

Just curious....did you have to start from scratch to get it work or does a current game now with Patch 2 correct itself and start displaying proper speed ratings on new players generated?

That's exactly what I did, no recalc, everything else is the same as regular historical. I did turn off Free Agency until 1976. (This seemed improved as well, previously when I turned on FA at that time, teams wouldn't sign anyone. I was concerned it was happening again, but right around spring training time the floodgates of signing opened.)

I actually followed Rasnell's post from some time ago, sorry I don't know the link offhand. Basically, start a historical league, turn off reclac, turn off import historical rookies, *make sure you adjust the rounds of the amateur draft, mine defaulted to like 30, which would have been ugly in a few years*.
Start the league, release all players to free agency, delete all free agents, then fill all teams with fictional players.

I just set up generic minors, to see sim speed. It seems to be faster for me with this patch that previous.

I started from scratch, the other attempts I had made were so hopelessly screwed that I had deleted them, so I can't really test that, sorry.

I need to do this. It seems to me that fict/hist leagues may be the Holy Grail of all Baseball sims.
