Online league initial draft question
I didn't know where else to put this, so I apologize to the mods if there is a more obvious forum.
I'm going to soon start the initial draft for my online league, but 18 of the 518 players in the league file are free agents and do not appear on the initial draft screen. These are very good players - one has been chosen with the first overall pick in fact. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to make the game work around the issue. As far as I know I cannot create a player in the Draft screen, draft said player, sign the appropriate free agent to the same team and then delete the drafted player. Any player I create in the free agent screen would, I assume, only be eligible for the next amateur draft or as a current free agent and would also not show up in the initial draft screen. The only work around I can think of is to draft the worst possible player in place of the free agent, sign the free agent and then release the bad player into free agency and edit their player histories as needed. Can anyone else think of another solution to my problem?

How about something like going into the player editor and manually putting these free agents onto a team, any team. Then do the "release all players and have an initial player draft" thing.
Sorry, don't have the game in front of me now, so I'm not certain of the name for the appropriate button, but if I'm understanding your question correctly, this should work. I would think. |

I hadn't thought of that and I know exactly what you mean. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work.
Thanks for making me feel smrt. ![]()

Similar problem

The ammies don't appear in the exportable ***_rosters.txt file so I can't overwrite one of them with my historical guy's numbers then reimport. Ammies and newly-created free agents both come in with "No league selected." There must be some other modifier in the player record that differentiates the two, that I can edit. Any clumsy workaround will do ![]() |

Yes, if that's what you want to do, you could create a draft-eligible fictional player and copy all of a historical players ratings in via the editor, then delete the historical player. If you only want to import one historical player, that's not much work- if you want a lot, well, different story!
