I Must Be Missing Something

I finally got around to creating a fictional league, but I have ended up with no FaceGen pictures. I had enabled FaceFen in my OOTP settings, and it is set for standard mode and a straight angle. But there are no pictures created, and all attempts to use the league setup to create pictures have failed. The player & picture options for my league continue to state that fictional picture options are disabled, no matter what I do.

Any help?

You missed the discussions right after the game came out in March about FaceGen working only with newer video cards. The first patch fixed the problem for many of us (myself included), but not all, unfortunately. The first piece of advice that they kept dispensing was to update your video card driver. If that does not work, you may be out of luck unless you can upgrade your video card or switch to a newer computer.

I bought my machine eight months ago, so I was about to become pretty angry if my video card was too old. Fortunately, I installed a driver update, and now I can use FaceGen. Thanks for the help, guys.

But I am very surprised and disappointed that there isn't support for older video cards. The original FaceGen application was usable by virtually anyone. I realize that there were a number of new features added to it once it was integrated with OOTPBB, but it's got to be pretty upsetting to the folks who have no choice but to purchase a new video card in order to make it work.

Older video cards are certainly supported if you have new drivers. My computer was built in the winter of 2002 and with new drivers it can handle Facegen.

Ultimately, there were only a handful of older cards that did not support FaceGen, and almost all of these, to my knowledge, were Intel integrated chips. It had less to do with the age of the card than that card's support for OpenGL, which is required for FaceGen.

That said, OOTP is generally pretty friendly on video cards, compared to most graphics-intensive games.
