Dude, that pitcher's so bad that I'd bribe the team doctor to lie to him and tell him that his career was over.

Hey, maybe that's what happened.

Haha. He's not that bad, judging by his ratings. Maybe you should just edit it to Shattered Ankle or something. I still can't believe that actually came up though. Crazy!

I've said this a hundred times. The AI is a cheating hater. I would switch to commish mode and get rid of the injury, and while doing it I would angrily shake my fist like an old man chasing kids off his lawn and I would yell "SCREW YOUZ COMPUTER, SCREW YOUZ!"

You must be using a different injuries.txt from the one that ships with the game. The 'bruised ankle' line in mine reads as follows:

1,10,7,0,0,0,1,0,0,0,2,bruised ankle,a bruised ankle,

The first two zeroes (after 1,10,7) are the season and career ending booleans; if these are both 0, the injury can neither end someone's season nor end his career.

Any chance that there was a second injury that is the real career ending one, and that the bruised ankle is simply over-writing the description of the big injury?

Either that or his ankle is showing a bruise because it is broken and shattered.

I havent edited the injury file. Maybe the pitcher is channeling Carl Pavano.

Some injuries are more mental than physical. Maybe it's not so much the bruise on the ankle that got him, but the emotional pain and drop in confidence that came along with it. I've known guys like Gozende, guys who grow up thinking they are invulnerable. Then one day, a little injury that would be nothing to most people strikes them down, and they're just never the same. His flaws revealed, he has unraveled and fallen apart. The bruise on his ankle makes him afraid to pitch with confidence, and he finds he can't take the mound again. He retreats into a sad world of alcohol-fueled rage and disappears until his name turns up on an obituary page five years later and everyone remembers the star he could have been.

this is the only thing that makes sense to me...

bababui: did you check the player history? see if that lists two injuries occuring on the same day (or really close by)...

Nah! He has a surname so I do not think he would be a good footballer.

Maybe it is a deep bruse or maybe it is a fear of dating Alyssia Milano.
