Is there a way to mimic historical expansion drafts?
I know OOTP will automatically expand my league for me, but I don't necessarily want to hold an expansion draft and have random players get put on the new team's roster. If this is the only way to do this, I don't mind (since obviously once you start the league, players end up going to teams they didn't historically play for anyhow), but I kind of like the idea of an expansion team starting out in OOTP with the same players it drafted historically.
That being said, can you have OOTP 2007 do automatic expansion but NOT schedule an expansion draft and move the players over manually as a commish? With OOTP 6.5 (the last time I did an expansion), after I created the new teams, I'd export the rosters to CSV, reassign the historically drafted players to the new teams, and then re-import the CSV roster back into OOTP. That seems scary to me with OOTP 2007, as I'm worried the re-import of the entire rosters will cause issues. Is that still the best way to accomplish what I'm looking for? Or can you manually do stuff like this in the game with commish mode? Thanks for any help or advice you can offer! |

Oh, and for those of you who have used automatic expansion, exactly when does it happen? When I first created my universe, I renamed the New York and Chicago teams "Chicago (A)" and "Chicago (N)" etc. so I could distinguish between them all when assigning minor league affiliates. I renamed the logos to match those names. Well, sometime after my first season was over, I suddenly noticed that the (A) and (N) were gone from both team names. Everything else looked okay, so I'm assuming OOTP just decided to properly rename those teams at the time it did its "expansion" processing. If that's the case, I guess the automatic expansion occurs right at the beginning of the offseason?
I'm also curious if OOTP handles team relocations and stadium changes, etc. I've got the Senators moving to Texas in a couple of years - I'm curious to see how OOTP deals with that. |

Has anyone actually tried doing it this way? Or will I be the first guinea pig come 1977! |
