Perhaps there was an error during the download. Maybe you should delete the game and download again.

Done that, multiple times. I am downloading it straight from the license site. I have also grabbed the execution file (ootp application file) patch and dropped that straight in and still no dice.

this one has me ....

Did you install to the default folder ie C:\program files\Out of The Park Developments\OOTP 8?

Even though you are on XP the game is set up for Vista and splits up some files and folders to multiple locations. If the install folder is in a different path, perhaps the other locations are not being read correctly. Only a guess on my part, I'm definitely not an expert on installation issues.

The error message means that it cannot find the data folder with saved games and quickstart games in it. I've had this issue with Vista but not XP.

Dola

Re-install the game but don't launch it. Using your file manager, check that you have a Out of the park developments folder under
  1. C:\Documents and Settings\"your current profile"\Application Data\Out... ...
  2. C:\Documents and Settings\"your current profile"\My documents\Out... ...
Number one has the config files with paths. Number two has the ..\Data\saved games folder.

Hope this helps.

nope i dont, and I know why. I work for a university football team and am installing this on my work laptop. Problem is...the my docs file is pointed at a university server instead of the local drive....

of course i have no idea how to change that...wonder if the IT guys is still about.

Thank you for your help in solving the mystery

running Vista right now, but I know you can change the path of the My Documents folder on XP.

Right click my documents check options availble, etc, type My Documents in help. Try to change it's location to your hard drive.
