Universal binary! Scrollwheel!

I hope "special" characters are next - not being able to enter accents is really annoying.

Anyway, good stuff for OOTP9.

This is great. Does anyone know if the issue with needing an internet connection has been confirmed? Andreas mentioned earlier in this thread that one wouldn't be needed. Once that's confirmed I'm pre-ordering.

Apparently, OOTP performance is superior on Macs in comparison to Windows PC's, too. Someone will have figures at some point.

You mean online leagues? I have a mac, and I doubt all my owners have macs too, so I don't think there's a problem, unless something's changed.

The Mac version and the PC version are compatible with each other in online leagues in the last two versions, so there's no reason to think that that would change.

The Mac version is definitely universal binary, and scrollwheel support is also already there... this internet connection thing is somewhat out of our control, because it is part of the eSellerate system, but the plan is to have it fixed

That's true... the reason is probably the better file-system...

Does universal binary also mean "foreign" character support, or will we not yet be able to call our players François Weiß-Núñez?

In both the leagues I'm in I have a copy of the lg file on my PC and on my Mac, so I can update my rosters, etc. from whichever computer I'm using at the time.

i always played ootp on PC, but i got a new iMac and im thinking about swithching since my mac is performing better than my other pc....still id like to know whats up with that internet connection thing...does it have to be a fast connection since my connection at my parent's house for this summer is not really good compared to my apartment...

so is the connection speed influencing the game speed?

From what I understand, an internet connection is only used on startup to make sure that you have a license for the game. I can't imagine you'd need anything more than a 56k connection for that.

The Peeler's right. Internet connection speed has absolutely nothing to do with the game speed once the game's loaded. It only checks at startup.

Also, if you're like me, you rarely reboot and keep OOTP open at all times, for days and days at once. If you're like me, you won't need an internet connection very frquently.

But, then again, you might not be like me, and more like the bunch of people for who it really matters that have expressed themselves agaisnt the verification process.
