Worst GM Ever
I started a new season with Cubby's 2008 roster and I took over the Dodgers. I decided to shop Juan Pierre around because I hate him and he costs money. Most of the offers sucked, but the Phillies made my jaw drop.
They offered me Ryan Howard.

OOTP does not know names, only ratings.
![]() Ok, even that comment doesn't make this trade right.

I'm not too familiar with those rosters. Do Pierre's ratings, maybe, reflect the mainstream perception of his skills? If he's been given a high contact & eye rating, sick speed and good defense, he's pretty good in OOTP....

I'll say it again looks like former Royals GM Herk Robinson got hired by (insert team here).
![]() I've seen Seattle in OOTP make some crazy maneuvers. Like taking a 3B who had come off ROY winning season with 68 steals (the lead by 20 steals) 13 triples (league-lead too), and a .280 something BA. (Only weakness was 5 HRs only. They decided they wanted power so they picked up a journeyman power hitting 3B. AND sent Mr. ROY to AAA. Appropriately, they went from a 97-65 season with him. (A season that netted them a wildcard only because they lost to Oakland who they were tied with on last day of season). To at one point in June the worst team in AL. Their only brightspot for that year was June and July when that power 3B got hurt. And they went on a .500 streak while the previous ROY came back up and ignited the offense. Got sent down after some deadline trades. And they went back to their pitiful ways. Incidentally, the replacement at leadoff for him did have a 20-HR, 20 stl season (23 HR, 26 steals actually). But a .215 BA and .271 OBP kind of negated it. The next season thanks to "management mistreatment" Mr. ROY went "Pat Listach" and his ratings fell off the roof (speed included). Another game, well the Seattle managed to pull out a great young pitcher 25 years old in his 3rd season. Well, in his rookie season he went 17-8 about 3.50 ERA and lead league in Ks (setting rookie K record). Second season another 17 wins season (12 losses though) had slightly lower ERA, about 13 less Ks in about 10 more IP. Well, he took a minor injury in his 3rd season in April but he came on strong and once again made the A-S team. Well, come deadline they are about 8-9 games out in the wildcard. They are weak at 1B. What do they do? They trade him and a so-so C prospect to Colorado for rent-a-1B Todd Helton (having a fairly ordinary season). well, it should also be mentioned Mr. pitching phenom is/was the only pitcher on the entire staff with an ERA below 4.00. Not surpisingly they drop completely out of the wild card race. Helton goes FA (forget where, not Mariners). And they are totally screwed for years. They essentially sacrificed a potentially great pitcher for a slight upgrade at first for 2 months. (and very slight upgrade as their 1B platoon they were using was only about 25 points below in average and maybe combined 1 HR less than Helton at that point that year, and they actually had more RBIs). I tried wrapping my brain for a reason. Maybe since he was due arbitration? Well, he did go from minimum to about 3.5 mil. Essentially a 3 million raise, but Helton earned about that much in the 2 months he was there. Even strictly money it was stupid. These are the only 2 moves that were made that were so annoying and so mindnumbingly stupid that it ruined an attempt at a dynasty and I just quit and started over. ![]() Note: Course, I did imagine fan reaction. Mr. Seattle GM having to stop going to games because the fans kept pelting him with rotten fruit (and probably worse things) ![]()
