Is there a reason all contracts seem to be for 2 years?

In one of my fictional leagues it seems to me tha almost every contract is 2 years in length. You'd think teams would want to lock in their big talents for 5, 6 years. Not the case though. Is there anything I can do to change this? It's kind of annoying when the free agent pool is filled with so many great players every season, they should want long-term deals.

My league has a ton of late-20s studs getting 6, 7 year contracts for big-time money. Maybe it's to do with your financial setup?
