Is 08' worth it for me to get?
The reason I'm posting this is not because I thought any of the previous versions were junk, but that I love the previous versions. I still have ootp2007 on my computer and really like it. There are of course a few things that I wished were there but other than that I really like it. I guess what I'm asking is does 08 have more and better features than the already amazing 07' version? I want to know if the game has this in it too:
The ability to have the schedule not play the same rotation in created leagues. One thing I couldn't stand was that the 07' version won't let you change the way the schedule is in created leagues. For example I have a 24 team league and I play the same teams in the same order throughout the year. I want to be able to play the teams in the other league (i have a 12/12 team leagues) but also have it so that the teams play more games within their division. If that option isn't there I can live with that but I can't live with the rotational schedule in another version again. Is the draft pool a little better? I remember in the 06' game that if you drafted a pretty good guy according to your scouts, you were basically garunteed a good prospect. In 07' I was like 30/70 in terms of drafting good guys in the first couple rounds and I had a scout that had a 100 for pitching and another with a 99 for hitting. It seemed like you were more than likely gauranteed a bust than not. those were the two biggies from 07' I didn't like, but other than that i really liked the game. Anything about how good the game is would be appreciated.

It's only like $6 if you have OOTP2007. Go for it!

I'd guess that people are less interested in having this discussion because there have been a handful of threads asking the exact same question over the last month. The consensus seems to be: if upgrading from OOTP '07, the move to OOTP8 is only $6 so you might as well, but the difference you get is very slight, so you also might as well just wait for v9. Not that many features are added from 2007 to v8. See this thread for details on what's new in v8 vs 2007.
If you have any version prior to 2007, you should absolutely upgrade to v8 immediately, because it is leaps and bounds a better game than v6.5. See many recent threads in this forum for more info. A perusal of thread titles over the last month or so should show up a few threads you'd be interested in. |
