I think the sounds going to be the same one they used in Smallball. Try and leave the sound on in that game for a whole game. I dare ye.

Keep supporting OOTP and hopefully one day Markus will sell enough copies to hire more people to help him make the game, its not that long ago FM/CM were purely text based* and created by a much smaller team. *Championship Manager 2002/3 (X-box) was the last purely text based CM/FM game ... its not that long ago. |

Yeah I'm with you guys on the price gouging and this need for yearly revenue without much to gain from the new version. He like totally skipped 2008 and is jumping to 2009?! WTH.
As per usual though I always skip a year with his productions. It would seem every other year is a non-banner year for the series. So, I'll just wait for next year when I'll get what little he did this year with hopefully more that he'll do next year. I'm one of those waiting on SOME KIND OF ANIMATION myself. I don't like reading text. I like the way APBA did theirs though where they had at least an color commentary guy announce the players and then the play. I still run into a lot of CTD's using the FaceGen feature from the 2007 version and that hasn't been addressed or fixed yet. This is why developers go bellyup they don't fix what they started before they start wanting more money for something else they start they won't probably fix either. |

The game will be called OOTP9 not OOTP2009 to get away from the SI\SEGA naming. Probably part of the separation agreement.
The last independent ootp was v6\6.5 so to get this years version in line ootp2006=v7 ootp2007=v8 and this year is the 9th version of OOTP, so OOTP9. |

I play and enjoy both wwsm and ootp despite the bugs each game has. I don't buy your statement that ootp has far fewer features. WWSM\FM deeper player personality model giving the feeling you are handling real players and not playing a computer game. Better news stories making you feel you're in a real world. Player training is modeled but if it was in OOTP I know many would think it would make the game more complex (not that I particularly agree). While a great game it doesn't do some of the things OOTP does. No customization, regenerates players, and league history is nowhere near what OOTP has. OOTP as mentioned is customizable to an almost unlimited degree. The game creates players, it does not regenerate them. The history functions of OOTP are amazing. The ability to play past seasons from 1900 to present. The ability to import your game and continue from last years version to the new one, something FM developers claim will never be in their game, and a feature that benefits both online and solo players. I"m not saying OOTP is the equivalent of FM but then as Marc V said they have a large team that works on that game. But if, like many Americans, soccer is not nor will ever be your(generic your) game of choice than more than likely FM is not a game you will try or buy. If you grew up watching and loving baseball than a real case can be made that OOTP could be "your FM" and worth more to you than FM ever would be. |

The licensing fee Disney/Pixar demanded was way too high.

Nope
I will not be preordering either
I'm glad to hear Markus has decided not to add tons of new stuff, but I will be waiting to see what actually gets fixed before deciding whether i want to pickup this years version of the game... There have been numerous roster management bugs/loopholes, especially in regards to player Options and Waivers that have been broke for years, that need to be addressed. Having to create rules to work around these known issues, some of which have been broken for 3 or 4 versions, has gotten kind of old. Not to mention some of the "New Features" from older versions don't even serve a purpose, ala Winter Leagues. May seem like minor issues to some, but since Im looking for realism out of my baseball experience, a game that does not correctly handle waivers, player options among many other issues kind of loses some of its luster. I look forward to seeing what all has been fixed, but since some of these issues have been floating around for years, I'm not overly optomistic about them getting fixed or my purchasing OOTP this year. I don't care about price nor new features..Just take the time to fix whats been wrong with the game and you will have my 40 bucks. JT |

The financial world doesn't trust the Dollar anymore and the Euro keeps reaching record highs. Good for us Europeans who shop in America, very bad for our economy and guys like Markus & Co.I wouldn't have considered MLB TV a year ago. But now those 79 $ look like nothing ... |

Not that that's a problem. The plunging dollar makes it cheaper for the Americans in this case. |

Excluding fixing known issues from OOTP8, feature-wise just how much more does Markus need to add? I've been playing since OOTP2 and it took me a while to get used to the massive amount of features and overall information in OOTP8.
At what point is "too much"? Right now I am willing to pay $40 for incremental features and having the game tightened up from OOTP8. I'm not saying people don't have some valid arguments- but this is already a complex product with more features than any baseball management sim currently available. The dev team is small and can only do so much within a tight dev schedule for an April release. Just my two cents.....

1. we might not know if it is a great feature till we try, 2. maybe it will keep Markus's creativity for ootp sharp. There are features that didnt work great and i think were removed but i would like to see them come back if their usefulness can be improved. Like say arguing the umpire. If a player might argue a call and actually get suspended instead of you just arguing and losing managers duty for the rest of the game i wouldnt mind that feature. It might make it more interesting if you are playing in a league and as manager you cannot participate in any decisions regarding your team until your suspension is over. Of course if it was an online league you would have to have the option of not allowing the computer to trade certain players so nobody could take advantage of the AI in your absence. |

I am a big fan of OOTP in general, but the lack of another patch for 2007 is what might keep me from converting my league over when the new game is released. It is a case of preferring the devil I know. It has been disheartening that the game was released with so many bugs, but even more frustrating was that they were never resolved through patching. I felt like the development of version 2007 after the debacle of version 2006 was a huge step forward, but I would like to see the same step forward in terms of responsiveness to solving the bugs on a released version of the game.
If I could know that the newest version was not simply being rushed out without concern for its quality and that once released the inevitable bugs would be properly patched in a timely fashion I would gladly plunk down my cash, but after the disaster of 2006 and the lack responsiveness on the bugs in 2007 I don't think you have earned the blind allegiance to the product being demonstrated by some posters. It is great that new features are being added to create more depth and realism in the game, but I would gladly sacrifice new features for a game version which has fewer defects and will be properly patched. |

Has anyone brought up the fact that the $40 cost of the new game is roughly the same as the cost of taking my Grilfriend to a movie, one large soda and large candy for me, and one diet soda, and butter free popcprn for her?
I'm definatly in on the new version. Oh BTW....I was referring to ME taking my GF to the movies, not any of you doing it.
