I'm not bothered about sound, there's more than enough in the world already, but improvements to scouting, finances and AI are much appreciated. Having bought more incarnations of OOTP in my life than Big Macs ( 5 to 3 actually) I shall be pre-ordering and continuing to support Markus for the countless hours of immersive enjoyment that his game has afforded me.

Say I said to you, "The Big Mac is going to be way better next month," and you said, "How?" And I said "I can't tell you til we perfect it." I know that the improvement I'm talking about that would make the Big Mac better is a fat-free bun; but in the month before launch it turns out I can't make the fat-free bun taste good, so I just introduce a slightly creamier special sauce instead.

Maybe you love creaminess, maybe that is just what you were looking for, and maybe it makes no difference to you what my intentions were when I first tried to tempt you with a new Big Mac concept. But me, if I know that McDonald's marketing campaign was based on the introduction of a fat-free bun, I don't feel some sort of gratitude because, at least they gave me something. Anyway, like I said, I won't buy a Big Mac just because McDonald's tells me it will be better. I'd like to be able to judge that for myself.
Perhaps Markus should have just said that the list is final, and then if he decided to add anything else, people might be more inclined to be happy about it rather than try to find some conspiracy.

Damned, that would have been a smart move... too bad I didn't think of it!

What would have been final though? Tons of what?

My update was not meant to generate big excitement... I'll leave that to the first newsletter which will announce OOTP 9 and its release date, along with screenshots and the final feature list

Did someone mention fat-free buns? Sign me up for a pre-order.

Isn't there only like 2 grams of fat in a burger bun? I think Markus should spend his time on things other than reducing the fat in there. There's not that much anyway.

Thank you, Marcus.

The prices (both pre-order and regular) are eminently fair, especially considering the status of the US$ these days. For $40 you can't get as much enjoyment anywhere else.

Two tickets a SF Giant spring training game at Scottsdale Stadium costs $50. Four draft Anchor Steam beers (not including tip) would cost you another $28. $20 more for two Don & Charley sandwiches. Voila! One visit to Scottsdale Stadium goes for $98.

I can't fill my gas tank for $40. Two bottles of halfway decent wine costs $40.

I'll be in for the pre-order and enjoy sending you off the money.

Cheers

Ok, well. I'm sorry that I thought this thread was intended to build up excitement for the next edition of your game. I guess it had a different purpose that I am not quite able to ascertain.

The thread istitled "Small OOTP 9 Update". Maybe the purpose was to give an update...?

If FM/WWSM doesnt have to pay or its licenses, why cant we get real German teams and (ESPECIALLY) the German National Team. Or the Japanese Leagues and their NT??

The reason for the higher price compared to OOTP 8/2007 is simply the weak Dollar compared to the Euro. In 2001 we earned 40 Euros for a copy priced at $35, now it is just 27 Euros for a copy priced at $40! And since three out of four paid team members live in Europe and we do not sell 100,000 copies we have to raise the price a bit.

Still, I think for $40 you get a game that has a) more and better features than the competition and b) a replay value that is far higher than your 8-hour console games.

Just my .02
I did say I would be buying.

Sound doesn't interest me at all. The improved scouting and financial systems are what I look forward to as well as the all the tweaks.

Like Ctorg, I look at this annual update as a subscription service. Keep up the good work Markus!

I thought so too the last two versions... but after having implemented it, I have to admit it adds a whole lot to the in-game experience

Because soccer players do not have a union in most countries... the german Bundesliga does require a license, that's the reason it has fake names in WWSM.

I will be purchasing the new version as well. It's an annual spring tradition now, like going to a Jays game every Canada Day.

I think it is a great bargain even without the animation.

Where else can you get some much enjoyment for only .11 cents a day?

For you stats freaks, it is only .109351 cents a day.
